Ravern is a bigger defensive liability than Kodi.

So it's okay if Ravern doesn't play defense, but that is the reason Kodi has been on the pine. I am not buying it. There is more to this story. Bring out the Black Helicopters...

So of greater concern to Stansbury is not Johnson's shooting, but his improvement as a defender.

"It's very obvious Ray's strength hasn't been his ability to shut people down and rebound the basketball," Stansbury said. "Those are areas he's got to continue to get better at. He has gotten better at it, but there've been games you've seen where you've got to have those stops that maybe he wasn't as good as he could be."</p>

Johnson said he's getting a better graps of things. "I'm starting to understand more things, to keep on guarding and pay more attention to scouting reports. That's really helped me out when we play games," he said.</p>

Not saying he doesn't compete in practice, because none of us know, but it wouldn't surprise me.</p>

I think its more of an issue of effort than ability. They both aren't great defensively, but Ravern busts his *** while Kodi looked disinterested at best at the beginning of the season. Kodi has looked better since he's been back playing, and I don't think that is a coincidence. Also, Ravern has improved throughout the year on D as Stans said, and it sounds like Ravern actually wants to improve and is doing what he can to improve.

There in lies the difference. Kodi's quote would read that he's never had issues with his game on the defensive end of the court, he doesn't understand why the coaches think that's holding him back, etc.

"talk" after game 8 or 9. He informed Stans "You knew when you recruited me that I'm a shooter not a defender" Now, I'm not gonna get into any more details on this subject except all of this will come out one day. Whether "we" like it or not there are two sides to every story and only Kodi is talking. Should Kodi have more playing time, maybe, but know one really knows and those that do know aren't saying.
I do believe Kodi would be a better starter than Ravern and I hope he comes back which I think is 50-50 at this moment. If he does I believe either Barry or Ravern will be the 6th man and I think that would be good.

I have been wanting Kodi and Osby to see significant playing time all year. Ravern's defense is no better than Kodi's, if not worse. Kodi actually get a rebound now and then unlike Ravern. Yes, Ravern can shoot a jump shot, but that is about it. He does not rebound, hustle after loose balls, or play defense. Kodi averages 3.3 rebounds in 12.3 mins vs Ravern 3.2 rebounds in 31 mins per game. I mean Ravern is 6'7 and can sky, why can't he play defense and rebound?

Kodi is a PF and has a lot more opportunites at rebounds?

Think before you post. Ravern is a SF. if Kodi has more opportunities than him(i assume you say this because you think SFs hang out on the perimeter all the time?), then Ravern would by the same logic have more opportunities than Stewart or Bost. And yet, both Stewart and Bost manage to average more rebounds/game than Ravern...and they all average 31min/game.

Somehow Jamont managed to get a **** ton of boards for 3 straight years...and he was a guard.

And Twanny damn Beckham would average 5.1 rebs/game if he played as many minutes as Ravern...he is a PG.

geez.
