you build a staff that believes primarily the same way and its personalities fit- not because some wingnut PG from Houston thinks they should be on staff

He said he was going to leave one spot open for the wildcard, someone who really wants to be there. My bet is Shane Power is that guy.

Wasn't there some talk that Dampier wanted to come back as a GA? That would be a great development to both have a great teacher for the posts and to help bringany alums that may have been looking to another candidate back into the fold.

<div>Personally, I think a complete staff overhaul is needed. Thomas, Ware, and Sword aren't going anywhere, so it boils down to keeping someone from the old staff just to bring in Gray. I don't see the justification in that.</div>

He's been up at Lipscomb in Nashville for a few years I think. I don't pretend to know what kind of coach he is, but he's a smart guy, an alum, played with Dampier et al, and has some experience.

with you. If he likes the attributes of one of our coaches, then fine, keep him. However, we don't need to keep a coach just because some kid with a big head thinks we should. We all have seen what prima donnas can do to a program. The program is bigger than any one player, not named Michael Jordan.

.....and I bet Ray won't either. Maybe I'm wrong. Seems to me like Grant is more important to keep the class together.

That he hoped to keep at least 1 coach from the current staff, but that they would have to all be on the same page. I got the impression that if he didn't think any of them would be a good fit, he wouldn't keep any.

about hiring him as a coach. Has he even said he wants to coach? I like the idea of keeping 1 assistant from the Stans era. But I really don't like the idea of having 2 assistants from that era. Too much inbreeding has been a huge problem for MSU athletics historically. I'm glad that Stricklin (and Byrne before him) understand that and are fixing it. I make an exception with the Cohen hire because that was the only way to keep from fracturing the fanbase even more.
