but you will have a hard time convincing me that all that is worth $10 million in damages. I have no idea why State or the SEC have anything to do with that. I'm surprised he didn't sue them both for allowing the guy to bring alcohol in. That's the same bulls*** as that cowbell excuse, right?

he does not have a leg to stand on in suing MSU. I'm sure he wants MSU to settle, but I would bet the university lawyers have told him to take a hike.

Something about lawsuits against State of Mississippi-run organizations, like county hospitals.

Even if MSU is liable, the damages are capped at 500k, and neither punitive damages nor attorneys' fees are allowable. All state agencies used to enjoy sovereign immunity, but the Tort Claims Act waived that immunity with regard to torts.

SEC rules are not law. A cowbell is not illegal. It was against the rules of the SEC to bring one to a game. The crime was where an individual used a legal item to commit acrime of assault. 10 million is a lofty amount where death does not occur.

it speaks volumes about the real motive of this lawsuit that the lawyer is out of Oxford.

Not entirely true. The statestill has immunityin numerous instances. I don't think this case is about damages though. It's about trying to force the SEC to ban cowbells.

so I didn't want to get into all that.

I agree, though, that by including the SEC, they're simply trying to force the cowbell issue. Sad.

since the new rules have been in place there have been no incidents. The cowbell rules work. For the safety of the people we must keep the current cowbell rules in place.

under the current set of rules. I mean, not ONE single incident since they were put in... Think about that.<div>
</div><div>I hate only being able to ring them at certain times, but the SEC should probably go ahead and make it permanent. As you said, it's all about safety.</div>

The "war on cowbells" has cost SEC members and the SEC office countless man-hours and security costs. Plus, revenues can be increased by selling cowbells at the games. </p>

it was merely to point out the ridiculousness of saying State or the SEC is liable for any damages some idiot with a cowbell cause by assaulting the guy.
