It's on Belichick and his cohorts (Saban, Weis, Crennel, McDaniels, Mangini, Pioli, Dimitroff, etc.). Pretty solid read. Wanted to share this quote from Josh McDaniels (the offensive coordinator for the 18-1 team). This is what he said about adding Randy Moss to the team (the year before he'd coordinated a great passing offense with Reche Caldwell, Doug Gabriel & Jabar Gaffney).

"Now we've got to figure out what we're going to do to use him. It's like you got something wonderful and you're not going to waste it. And it would have been a waste to just make him conform to the things we had planned for other guys who didn't have his skill set. There were plays we created, and there were plays we copied and stole from other teams with the thought being, 'Okay, these are the things that this guy has done before. He's good at them. We haven't done them before. We need to get good at them.'"

This made me think of MSU's offense. I hope we get an Offensive Coordinator that can use Russell next year. It's a win-win. If we can, using McDaniel's terms, get good at the things he does best and not waste him, I think he could have an awesome season next year. On top of that, if said coordinator can increase Prescott's passing skills, it will only make his running ability that much more effective.

I thought the post about Koenning the other day was serious too at first, but I caught the sarcastericks a little while later. Koenning, unfortunately, is staying it appears. But I definitely agree with you, and I may have to check out that book you're reading.

There are so few players a coach should change his offense for this isn't worth considering. Randy moss is one though. Tyler is not. We need to return to what we do well.

It's a fantastic read, and will be revisited years from now if the Julio Jones move ends up working for Atlanta.

I think it could have been worth changing before this season since you would be able to do it for 2 years. At this point though its only 1 and he may not play all of it if dak can be good for your offense.

OT somewhat, but

I fi d it rediculous that a book about football is called "War Room." Football is a game and really is disrespectful trying to compare it to war in anyway, to me.

I think you're looking for something to be mad about. Do you realize how many combat metaphors are used in everyday speech? I guess doctors shouldn't tell patients their "fighting an uphill battle" either...

I wasn't

really mad. I just stated that I thought it was, and is, ridiculous. To me your scenario is apples to oranges when comparing it to someone pedling something such as a book.
