Evidently the Pac-10 is close to offering six Big 12 schools: Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Colorado.

Boise is already making a move to the Mountain West, making that conference even more legit. Looks like folks aren't waiting on the Big 10 to make the first move.

The article on the Texas Rivals site said that Texas A & M has already had discussions with the SEC about joining and that Oklahoma may be interested as well. A report out of Nashville said that a person with CBS sports said that Slive has told them that the four SEC expansion targets were Texas, Texas A & M, Clemson, and Florida State.

Here we sit waiting for the Big10 to make the first move so we can then cherry pick the Big 12. The Pac10 is being smart by preempting everybody.

Texas and OK schools were the obvious choices. Now it is uncertain.

Instead of Clemson, FSU, GT and Miami, I would look at the Virginia schools.

Kansas. Where does a big name program like that go? The Mountain West? I know they're probably politically tied to KSU, which may handicap them. Someone call Kirk Schulz and ask him.

If they were in the SEC, they would have the 2nd and 3rd largest enrollments, behind Florida. It would get us an even stronger foothold into the Florida market and give the conference two schools with huge alumni bases that will be very relevant 20-40 years down the road.<div>
</div><div>Kansas is a consideration if they get screwed in all of this, though I could see them going to the Mountain West if it gets BCS status.</div><div>
</div><div>Virginia Tech has to be at the top of the list, and TCU would be a good consideration too.</div>

they are claiming it will bring 20 million to each institution. the big 12 has failed in this area and it has everyone wanting to jump ship.

edited to say: except for texas, who is trying to start their own network.

but,
Otherwise, competition wise very few in the Pack 10 can at this moment claim competitive dominance over the Big 12.

Follow the $,
If this trend continues as it seems, college football will change dramatically, and may cease to exist as it is now known.

MSUcould get caught up in this issue...not to the good.

Reason is revenue sharing in the Big 12 is not equal at all. It weights heavily in Texas's favor. The pot would be much bigger in either the SEC or PAC-10, but their 1/16 share of that pot may not be as big as their much greater than 1/12 share of the Big 12 pot. I think if Nebraska and Missouri stay, Texas may stay as well and the Big 12 may survive. But if Nebraska or Missouri leave, Texas will too and the chain reaction will destroy the Big 12.

Sounds like a plan, but what about KU, OU, VT & UNC ?

Slive hasn't told anybody who the SEC may be targeting for expansion. Much less anybody who works for a national media outlet.

the way they are. Pretty soon we will have to pony up money to buy the SEC network to get our games. Its over 2,000 miles from Austin/Norman/Stillwater/College Station to Seattle. Have fun paying for those trips for non revenue sports.
