i think everyone agrees on here that there needs to be big changes in our staff but does anyone honestly believe that there will be? we know mullen won't get rid of hevesy, but will he get rid of koenning or wilson? i don't see it happening.

I don't think Mullen will get rid of Wilson because of his recruiting abilities. I would love to have Ellis Johnson back, but he has said himself that he doesn't like to recruit. This will be one of the biggest decisions of Mullen's career at MSU. If he doesn't make a change and things stay as it is, he will lose any hope of getting a "bigger" job down the road because of our downtrending. When Mississippi State fans lose confidence in the defense, the **** starts to hit the fan and people lose faith in the program and coaching staff.

Keep Wilson until signing day then make a change. Give Brewster a raise. Fire whoever is not getting Nick Griffin carries.

Surely there is someone out there that can COACH and recruit

Wilson didn't kill us last night. Our defense didn't help, but they were giving us a chance. We absolutely have to have something change on offense. If Mullen doesn't announce that the play calling responsibilities are changing at a minimum, then we will know he has lost his edge already. No way Mullen would have accepted this his first two years at State.

You keep Wilson for three reasons: (1) Recruiting; assuming we do something with our OC, you don't want to change OC and DC in the same year if you can help it. Plus, last year is basically the first SEC quality recruiting class we've had since Mullen's first year. If we don't follow it up with another SEC quality recruiting class, the next DC still won't have enough talent to work with.

(2) Wilson didn't have a disruptive player on the DL. It's hard to play good defense in the SEC with the DL we put out there. If Quay becomes that player next year, that may hide some of Wilson's deficiencies.

(3) Wilson is still an inexperienced coach. There's a chance he will learn in the off season.

I wish we were in a position to get rid of WIlson, not take a hit in recruiting, and go get a proven DC. We're not, so we might as well hope Wilson figures it out next year.
