Reasons why I'm not freaking out about this years recruiting class

Anyway, we are looking at the following OL prospects: Damien Robinson, Quinterrius Eatmon (3 star and currently committed to USF), Kenarious Gates (3 statr and currently committed to Kentucky), Archie Muniz (2 star and currently committed to Utah), Cameron Fleming (2 star and currently committed to Stanford) and I think we are keeping warm Chuckie Curry (JUCO), Dillon Day (probably an interior guy)...

We are also stock-piling walkon OLs like most Missippians stock pile water and canned meats with onset of white death. Served.

5 OL prospects, 4 of which are committed to other schools and a "stock-piling (of) walkon OLs like most Missippians stock pile water and canned meats with onset of white death"--------sounds like a recipe for winning.

You're right and how silly of us. Why would ever try and flip a recruit that is committed somewhere else...just doesnt make sense.

What's silly is being less than 30 days from signing day and depending on walk-ons and flipping committments to round out a position of tremendous need for your program. This position was such a severe need that it should've never come down to flipping committed players at the last minute to meet the bare minimum requirements of success at that particular position.

The severity of our need is not nearly as great as the severity of OM's need. We return everyone from our two deep rotation with the exception of Craig Jenkins. Next season, you will see essentially the same OL that produced one of the best running games in the country this past season. With that said, your concern for OL recruitment is duly noted. This class is really not bad. We need to finish strong, but O-line is not a giant need right now. It would be nice to get a few good ones for a couple of years down the road, but I don't think that position was a recruiting priority this year. Mullen needs speed, speed, and more speed and he appears to be getting it.

A few MSU fans are discussing our recruiting class on a MSU board. Curly Bill makes one comment about Ole Miss's negative recruiting and next you thing you know, 9 different Rebels are posting in the thread.

Message to Big League Chew: I never said Carr had offers from everyone in the country. I said he could play for anyone in the country and I stand by that.

Right now neither MSU or OM is having a great recruiting class. </p>

However, I've always been under the school of thought that you need as many quality o-lineman as you can get. Most lineman are projects. You never know how they are going to pan out and they get injured all the time in the trenches.

If I had to chose between great skill players or a great offensive line, I'd chose the o-line every time. As a general rule, I think skill players are only as effective as the offensive line allows them to be.
