Any student that wouldn't turn in work for Baby J, let him cheat off him, or just pretend to be a 6'6" 330 lb black man from Batesville for attendence purposes, just didn't look at the depth chart and realize that we need him at RT.

Hopefully where the students have failed, the Summer professors will step up to the plate.

I have confidence in our academic advisors to make sure that Baby J is able to play this year.

Just thought it was interesting that the rumor of his failure to achieve satisfactory academic progress sneaked out through the interwebs. Clearly someone on the inside needs to be pillowcased.

I think most reasonable Rebel fans have said all along that we were thin on the OL and that any injury there would be a problem. This would fit that bill. And you have your answer. Most of us would expect the season to turn much more mediocre without Jerry.

your post about Russell's imminent football demise made the Spirit today. The pay board to boot. You've arrived.

...this is the first I've heard anyone say Jerry is short a grade. I've heard folks in Oxford talk about Miss. Sue before. Looks like she's on the outs.

Re: When does the 2nd session end? NT

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know one thing....Ms.Sue, his tutor, as well as Jamarca's, Oher's ,Peria's is staying until the end of August and then is leaving because of Karen Schilfler. The reason she is staying through August is to get Baby J eligible. Big mistake for them to let her go...I think grades come out on the 21st......

He's come a hell of a long way since he played at The U. Going to Hargrave was the best thing that ever happened for him. He's got his **** in order.

In terms of over/under on how long he'll be in school at Ole Miss. Can we set the total at 1.5? I know you've been pretty forward in your assessment of his lack of gray matter.

As I've said repeatedly, Tig is a straight up thug. But y'all have managed to keep a lot of our big time thugs around for their entire careers. My gut says he'll be one season and done, but it wouldn't surprise me if y'all find a way to keep him around both seasons, either.

is going to provide for him at his charitable Helping Underprivileged Children (but only if they're good football players and especially at positions you're thin at) Foundation.

Just for the record, I'm not being critical of Nutt. I just thought his little speech about being there to help these kids was a little ridiculous.

He's there to win football games. I don't see him helping a bunch of kids who aren't good football players. Again, I'm not being critical of him. I'm sure he does help some of these players become better people, and that's a good thing. But that's not the reason he's there.

Or even just say we're going to handle it internally and try to help Tig make better decisions. But spare us the holier than thou ********.</p>

And I have no reason not to, then Dixon and Tig's circumstances are a little different. Dixon grew up in a structured home environment and made a bad decision that a lot of college aged folks make.

Tig has probably never had a soul tell him one damn thing to do that he seriously considered. If he's a thug, then he will and must be treated differently by a coach.

Knowing what players to put your arm around and what playerss to kick in the *** and when to do either is what often separates good coaches from the average ones.

Sounds like Nutt has a plan to both squarely kick Tig in the *** and put his arm around him while doing it.

Fingers crossed because I want Tig to be a Laron Landry type FS.

helps a lot of players who grew up in less than ideal circumstances. No question about it. But I don't think for a second that if he'd been a marginal player at your deepest position, his treatment would be a little different than it is now.

We're going to the A-1 offense this fall. Z Mason is going to play all 11 positions simultaneously, and we're going to average 75 points a game.

And that's what I like about Nutt. He gets that his job is to win, not to mold men. He gauges his discipline based on how the player can help the team. He was going to hold onto Hornsby for as long as possible simply because depth in our secondary is a concern coming into this fall. Eventually the legal system basically forced his hand, otherwise Hornsby would be reporting this week.

Orgeron was one of the toughest coaches I've seen on discipline. In 2006, he kicked off the only LBs we had that would be returning for 2007 and basically shot himself in the foot for 2007. However, when you don't win games, no one cares how strict you were. If Tig is as good as advertised, we'll hold onto him for as long as we can because Nutt gets it.

There's a reason he was suspended for his JR year. That said, he apparently got himself together enough to stay on a team and earn himself a big payday. Good for him, damn proud he got it figured out. Tig, on the other hand, has shown ZERO sign of figuring it out.

They said the same thing about Peria out of HS.

He figured it out once he got to Ole Miss.

Tig may or may not, but nobody knows, you nor I.

I personally don't care either way. Ole Miss will be OK with or without Tig Barksdale.

He always says the right things doesn't he? I guess Nutt should be more like Mullen and start mentioning State in every other sentence calling you Moo U.
