Rebels don't have much after Wahl and Mayers......

Gave up 6 runs in the first 2 innings today. Small sample size, might I add, and they've been OK on Sunday thus far. But certainly not threatening. Complete opposite of us.

You just described every Mike Bianco coached team

Pitching - good Friday and Saturday starters........ poor to mediocre Sunday starter......... pretty good closer.......... poor to mediocre middle relievers

Offense - a few guys in the lineup that can hit for average......... maybe one or two who can hit for power......... team plays small ball

Defense - team typically plays pretty good defense

That's Mike Bianco in a nutshell.

Except when they had Bittle.....then they were a national seed. Sunday starter means everything when it comes to being a top 8 team.

They must have heard me.....now pouring salt on our wound. Came back and are now up 9-8, as we are about to blow a series to Central Arkansas. M Stake, baby.

Looks like to me that even with the guys they lost from last year they are still a better overall offensive team than we are even this year.

Their #3 guy is pretty good this year although he threw like crap today. Their pitching altogether is much improved this season(outside of Mayers and Wahl which have neither been as good or consistent as they will likely be going forward). We're currently #3 in the country in runs allowed/game...they are #11. We are #10 in overall scoring margin -- they are #16.

Not that it really matters but the only time we've ever been a national seed was back in 2005. I think Bittle was used as a Sunday starter in 2008. We actually didn't even host a regional that year.

Cliff Godwin has been a damn good hire.

It took him a year to totally turn things around, but our hitting is much improved. Add that a bunch of key players (Bousfield, Anderson, Allen, Overbey, Jamison) are a year older helps. Oh, and our catcher being a badass (.491/.523/.800/1.323, 9 doubles, 2 HR, 27 RBI, and 11/15 on runners out attempting steals) helps, too.

Well you hosted a super regional that year, so I just assumed you were a national seed. It was 2009, good team either way. I know because I went to a few games in Oxford that year. Bittle was the closer, then after losing one too many Sunday games they put Bittle in that spot and locked it down. Too bad he got hurt.....he was the difference in Omaha and getting beat in your own super regional yet again.

Tanner Mathis coming back was clutch. I hate that cocky prick, but he's a good ballplayer. He's a C.T. Bradford type with a loud mouth. Just makes things happen.

We will struggle to score runs all season...

If Will Allen and Sikes Orvis can't give us more than they have so far there will be a lot of 2-1 type games.

Their four runs in the first were unearned, and the first HR against Smith is a can of corn if the wind isn't blowing. Sam didn't have that good a day anyway, though. He's been pitching a lot better.
