That is just crazy. I don't think I've ever seen a 'top 5' team ever fall that far in one single week.

But then again, they did lose to a 1 AA team at home and OM was on the road against an SEC team. Still, that's a pretty crazy drop.

Basically, we were in the same boat with Cal and Penn State, all ranked in the same range, and all without a true test of any kind on the year, and we all played poorly.

Between the two polls, they treated each team roughly the same.

We should take care of Vandy without a ton of trouble even with our OL issues, and we'll move up a few spots before the Bama game. If we were to pull off a Bama upset, we'd make up a lot of that ground in a hurry. Of course, if our OL doesn't figure something out, Snead will get eaten alive on October 10.

Either way, it's all a good argument for polls not being released until mid-October. Pre-season polls inflate the value of some teams every year, and on the flip side, polls overreact often to early losses that turn out to be not so bad.

and I thought UMissy should drop to 12 but no worse than 15 HOWEVER I prefaced the comment saying that the ESPN announcers did them no favors and I would not be suprised to see them fall to the 20's. Sometimes even a blind hog finds an acorn.

I still believe Ole Miss will knock off Bama. The Rebs are better than what we saw against USC, maybe not top 5 quality, but still much better. Obviously Snead hasn't gotten it together yet, and Nutt will learn to use McCluster more. I think Vandy won't be much of a problem. 2-0 the next two weeks for thw Rebs, 0-2 for MSU.
