How is this becoming such a big thing now? How do all of these guys have the grades to graduate HS after 3 years? I could have skipped my senior year if I wanted to by going to summer school for English and gym after my Junior year but didn't. I would have to have decided it a long time before August like Bagley is trying to do. I just don't get how they are getting all of the classes they need to graduate HS within 3 years. They obviously aren't going to summer school since they play AAU ball all summer.

I finished a semester worth of HS classes in a week. You have to remember the assignments are pretty damn easy

I've heard of people holding their kids back a year so they dominate in sports later. As a result you would also have some of your academic requirements out of the way as well.

That's really the only thing that makes sense. Maybe it is just more prevalent than I think.

A lot of the players who reclassify are reclassifying to their original class based on their age. They spend a "prep" year of school somewhere in their early high school career and then are listed as juniors when they are actually in their fourth year of high school and the same age as most seniors.

Makes players look a lot better when they're a year more developed than the players they are playing against.

Diallo is a perfect example. Was at a post graduate high school and decided to attend the spring session at UK.

I teach HS in Kentucky.

We have an early graduation program.

I have helped several kids get through HS in 3 years.

Most, but not all, have been college bound students. Some just needed to get out of school early to get on with their vocational training or just to get out to raise their kids.

There are computer programs now that can get a student a credit in a class pretty quickly, if they are motivated.

This is in a public school.

Now imagine what a private school can do with even less restrictions than a public school.

Knowing this, it does not surprise me that Bagley reclassified.

Now, meeting the requirements to get him through the NCAA clearinghouse is another issue.

Graduating is the relativiely easy part. Jumping through all the other hoops, that's the tricky part.

Of course, for Bagley, getting into college is bonus. The main thing is being graduated so he can enter the 2018 draft.

Graduated high school 12 or so years ago, and then the only class I had to take as a Senior was English. Had I been able to take English IV, second semester I would have done the same thing. It's not unheard of and with the mandatory one year college before the NBA, why not get started early?

You nailed it. For example, Zion Williamson is 16/will be 17 when he finishes his Senior year of HS. Marvin Bagley is going to be 19....and even crazier is Jalen Suggs is 16 going into his Soph year of HS. So when Suggs is 17 next Summer so he'll be a candidate to re-classify into the class he should be in. BTW, Suggs is really high on UK too--and I know his father well and can update on that recruitment personally like I was DeAaron Fox's recruitment.

Devin Booker is going into his 3rd year in NBA and just turning 21. Kevin Knox I believe is still 17 years old now going into his FR season at UK.
