recruiting season... I want to hear your perspective. I infer that tou are saying that top talent players would rather go to a team getting beat by DII schools and not really competing in SEC, over one that is obviously getting better by the game and pounding the other said team. Also a team that had to bring in a band-aid QB that obviously didnt help. That is hard to believe. To decommit and waiver is nothing new, but to believe a recruit would go to UM just for the heck of it after decommitting from MSU, given where each team stood then and stands now, is just ignorant. I'd like to know what part of my post is inaccurate? Well maybe the furniture was a stretch, it was really at a 95% discount with free delivery.**
Said it was a theory, but really there arent many other reasons for such activity. Please tell how it really occured....
Here are some things to ponder about the 11 recruiting classes:
1) I have said this numerous times. Losing Diaz and Hud when you did was a killer for you, and would have been for virtually any school. They are the two that had relationships with most of the commitments you had. It was a killer for you.
2) I think it has been well documented by not only other fan sites, but some State one's as well, that Mullen isn't great in-home. He may be a terrific coach, but that doesn't necessarily mean he can get it done in home. Almost a 180 from Orgeron. He could recruit, but was the possibly the worst gameday coach in SEC history.
3) You put too much emphasis on what the teams were doing last season. That should play more in your favor this year. When coaches were building relationships with these guys in 2011, we were coming off of back to back NYD bowls. That should play into your hands this year, and certainly seems to be helping with the commitment of Grindle, and Evans and Ward having some interest in you.
I would love to see a thread on these boards be a long, somewhat educated debate on recruiting. The problem is it can start that way, but at some point, the idiots jump in and screw it up.
