Enough already - he (they) are not coming here and that's that. I've moved on.

When this all shakes out there is not enough room in Penn State or Okie States lineup for all these young bucks to be on the mat. Something has to give.

Yes, Captain Obvious. I get it but some on here do not.

There is logic as to how we could end up back here. Cooler heads, none of the other programs Bo listed are able to offer the things the Bassett's were allegedly complaining about, either like travel etc., etc. So I can see the logic. I can't believe it would actually happen, though.
Been pretty well reported how much melvin liked/wanted to go to Iowa…maybe that’s part of the equation? 🤷‍♂️

This a pic of you? I had this notion you were kind of a crossdresser/Trans, not that there's anything wrong with that.

I never said the playing field is anything but level. Uncle Ira and pal are spending 15 plus million a year on their college and RTC athletes. That matters. Financially they are spending way more than Iowa. It is unclear how much OSU is spending, but it appears to be a lot too.

For those complaining about signing USA and World champions to come to Iowa, you need to donate to HWC. Last I heard the annual raise is somewhere above 1 million, but nowhere near the 5 plus million Nit Wit club spends.
I concur with your response Bob. The point I am making is HWC faces much stronger headwinds than PSU and OSU do.

No Bob, Ok State and Penn State aren't spending more than Iowa. Their wrestling programs just aren't spending it on big fancy buildings.

Iowa wrestling would have been further ahead in working with the university and the state of Iowa in obtaining other financial assistance (possibly a matching grant). They could have then used some of the contributions for things such as the college athletes and the HWC.

You are delusional if you think PSU and OSU now are not overspending us. I can't help you there.

Giving money to Iowa is the wrong way to go. Like all gummerment, it goes into the system and what comes out is less than half. The Facility is a great example of that.

Iowa wrestling has to be the most boring "blue blood" program to follow for recruiting. news is far and in between. a single blue chip once a year at most and multiple misses every single year. never a haul.
Boring bro? What planet are you on? You could make a reality TV show on what's going on in Iowa City.

It was a poor choice of words at this time.I was speaking about most of the last 15 years and specifically about buzz, positive news, commitments. Its like window shopping most years.

All good bro. I know you meant well. NOBODY is more curios than me on what our full lineup will be in 2-3 years

What makes you think the state of Iowa would support a matching grant for a wrestling facility? Those type of grants (OSLAD - assuming Iowa has those too) generally require a far broader use by and benefit for the public.

Who says it needs to be OSLAD? Given the large number of people that follow Iowa wrestling, one would image there are many possibilities. Here are some Iowa and Federal grants that are targeted toward arenas and other sports venues:

  • Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) Grant Program: This program, managed by the Iowa Economic Development Authority, supports the development of multi-purpose attractions and tourism facilities, including potential arena projects, especially when tied to tourism and community revitalization.
  • Iowa Great Places Program: This program provides funds for infrastructure projects that enhance the quality of life in designated "Great Places" communities. Arena development could be considered, depending on the project's alignment with the program's goals and its inclusion in the community's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
  • Iowa Reinvestment District Program: This program awards funding to projects demonstrating the potential to boost Iowa's economy and support workforce development, including infrastructure projects like sports stadiums.
Federal grants
  • USDA Rural Economic Development Loan & Grant Programs: This program assists rural communities with projects creating jobs and promoting economic growth, potentially including sports and entertainment venues within eligible areas.
