I'LL SAVE YOU TIME, DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU DON'T PLACE ANY VALUE ON RECRUITING RATINGS AND RANKINGS.

This is "throw-it-out-there". I don't have inside information. It's hard for me to talk recruiting without talking numbers. I respect others' opinions that don't care about ratings, and you can compile your own lists if you like. I have for some of the players, google searched them, see what others are saying, what the players have said. And have formed some opinions based on little more than a hunch. Out of a couple acquaintances I know, I've heard some rumors, but everyone single one was false, so I don't even pay attention now. If someone has some "hard" info, please pass it on.

DISCLAIMER: I try to not get hung up with the rankings/ratings too much or calling out names of bluechippers. There is no guarantee that a 5* star player will be all-american, nor that a 2* player will be relegated to the scout team. Attrition is high, I don't know the actual attrition number, I just generalize that about half of a class will make it, not even saying that a player will improve/stay the same/decline compared to the competition. To me, recruiting is a probability crap-shoot, the better the numbers on the whole the better your chances. I have no idea how many recruits other teams are taking, and this CAN or WILL effect all the recruiting numbers. I can't tell you how many players we're going to take, at one time it was 22(?) (Portland Tribune article). My hunch is we take 25 or more players.

Rivals has used the current ratings calculation for the last 3 years. Here's how different scores have fared and an average score.

Looking at the table, an average score of 1773.0 will get you the 25th ranked recruiting class. Note, it's taken a progressively higher score to get into the top 25 each year, but that could change this year.

The following is a list of all recruits that consider NU a "HIGH" interest, which includes our current commits. I calculated a score to see where we land.

If we land every single recruit that has "HIGH" interest, we finish with a score of 1903. That could put us somewhere around 20th. If we land every "HIGH" interest except the top 250 players, we likely finish in the 26th to 30th range.

I AM NOT INTENTIONALLY LEAVING PLAYERS OUT TO SERVE AN AGENDA. I had to pick a spot to quit adding names to the list, as I don't know "sure things" from the "longshots". At a certain point, considering all the possibilites becomes a circle jerk.

There are definitely a large number of possibilites as to who signs with us and who doesn't, even players that don't consider us "HIGH" according to Rivals. Some of these players have multiple teams they consider as "HIGH" interest, without additional knowledge you can't call them a shoe-in. Based on what I've heard, read, seen, I would've figured that Tremayne Anchrum, C.J. Riley, Stewart Reese, and Clyde Leflore-Chriss would have already committed, but they haven't. SO, I have no idea how we end up. There are also players scheduled for official visits according to Rivals. Most are already committed to another team and would be a flip to us. Chase Lucas is an uncommitted top 250 player that is scheduled to visit. There's also Mique Juarez who's in play.

SUMMING IT UP
Based on historical ranking scores and current interests, we need at least one more Rivals 250 recruit to finish Top 25. It will depend on how we do, and how other potential top 20 teams do, as to a top 20 finish (i.e. are the teams with 1900ish scores taking more recruits).

Nice work! The key is having our highly ranked guys stay and not transfer or flame out like under the jerk pelini.
