Apparently second coord to leave in a 24 hr period:

excerpt
According to a report from 247Sports.com, West Virginia recruiting coordinator Casey Smithson will be leaving West Virginia and taking a position with Houston.

Smithson has been a member of the West Virginia staff in some capacity since 2007 and spent eight years with former Mountaineer head coach, Dana Holgorsen. This marks the 2nd member of West Virginia's coaching staff to depart from the team today. Earlier, linebackers coach Blake Seiler accepted a job at Old Dominion

They probably left because Brown requires his staff to actually go out and recruit.

You obviously don’t follow recruiting much geezer. This class currently ranks 32. That’s higher than any class Holgy brought to WVU over his last five years. You may want to research a bit before you post about things you really don’t know much about. Let get psyched for the big game today. I want to hear you screaming super loud. Have a wonderful weekend.

Who are you disparaging exactly and why? If it’s Buckface you’re wasting your time. He has ignored most of us a long time ago. I never ask questions. I just get my freebies in on that idiot.

or they realize just what a debacle is happening in Morgantown under Brown and are getting out while the getting is good?

We shall see.

You will be proven wrong!!

In actuality, all I've done is post real information about Brown and co's performance to date and i.e. in this thread actual factual occurences. You can't "prove that wrong" because it is fact, historical fact.

I don't really see what the argument is here. Brown underperformed from the previous staff in year one in epic collapse fashion, and its made worse by the dismal bowl performances witnessed the past week or two from WVU's conference mates.

Players have left in large numbers, and now coaches are dropping like flies--all things many here bashed the previous staff for while they were winning the second most games ever under a coach in WVU history.

Now? Its not hard to understand why both players and coaches alike are moving on to other options unfortunately.

Greg what I know about recruiting is you don't really know how good a class is until a couple of years down the road. Which is more than you know. Holgorsen just hired a guy who has no familiarity with the state of Texas. The success Brown had was due to his staff going in to areas which Wvu had traditionally been in before Holgorsen and reestablishing relationships that holgorsen neglected. Im sure brown will have no problem finding and adequate replacement. Im not sure why you really care. BTW how come you post more on this board than your Home Board? Why don't you start threads over there?

I don’t owe you any explanation why I frequent this site. BTW I’ve established the reason many times before and you are wrong again. I’ve posted more on Lair way more than here. I never said Brown won’t find a solid replacement. My bet is he’ll find a better one. There’s one reason why I care. I’d like to WVU and Pitt return to Penn State’s status.

Greg there are several threads that you have started on this board but none currently on the Pitt Board why is that? Do they not allow trolls over there?

Posting that coordinators left is "garbage"? Posting actual stats of how poorly Brown has WVU performing is "garbage"? Posting lists of players leaving is "garbage"?

No, its simply fact, fact that you for some reason don't want anyone to know about.

At some point rather than raging against me for discussing facts you'll have to accept that things are not as rosy as you and your cronies pretended they would be if you could just fulfill your loony Holgorsen theories and hate agenda.

I wonder what this guy will get paid at Houston. Houston is overpaying out of desperation (see Holgy's salary) and maybe they're doing the same with assistants. Unfortunately, it's hard for WVU to keep up.

I saw the salaries of assistant football coaches at WVU a couple months ago and I was shocked at how low they are. Nobody was above 650 K and lots of them were in the 200-400 K range. That's a lot of money to regular folk like you and I but in the world of big time college football assistants it's not much.

You are a weird one Ole. Why the obsession sir? You seem to be very interested in my opinions. The Big12 is talked about here like it’s the best football conference. A real meat grinder is what I read. My opinion is that it sucks and WVU should have no problem getting back in the mix for a Title. Brown showed he could get it done in a couple of the later season games. Had a recruiting class that was very solid. I actually think he is the right guy for this job and will get it done.

Apparently you masturbate to Holgorsen photo. Tell me is it a huge poster or one of those tiny ones?

and it has escalated big time under Brown, coordinators are now heading for the gates since football season ended--three gone already

Yet Brown still rated higher recruiting than failure Holgs.

Brown - 38th 247, ESPN 39th, Rivals 32nd Scout 42
Holg - 83rd 247, ESPN not listed in top 50, Rivals 99th Scout 78

There is way less travel a coach/recruiting coordinator has to go through to recruit in Houston. At WVU you have to recruit and travel nationally due to the lack of DI prospects in the state every year. In Houston it's mainly an hour or 2 drive to the homes of 80% of your team of the recruits who were passed over for power 5 schools and there are young kids with P5 talent who would prefer to stay close to home.

all the baby clown trolls coming at me, but notice (if anyone is paying attention, doubt it since they chased everyone away long ago) that THEY WON'T ADDRESS THE FACTS.

I mean any 4 year old can make baby troll attacks on someone, but if you can't dispute the facts then you should probably just STFU.

So we lost a recruiting coordinator, LB coach and WR coach. The LB coach was a tough loss but he was always on his way to bigger and better things (Seiler) - The WR coach was a Grad Assistant and this was his first "paying gig" so that isnt exactly a huge loss. The recruiting coordinator (this coming from a friend) likes the laid back life he had under Holgs over the "work" he has had to put in recently. We made a nice hire in Gerard. Gerard > Xavier Dye for sure, especially on the recruiting trail. Koonz for Seiler is still up in the air. Also hearing Casteel is coming back as a defensive analyst. So Buckaineer, I dont think the sky fell like you have been saying. On top of that, Saban and Dabo lose coordinators EVERY YEAR. Are those guys "getting out" too? Let's just give Brown some time, especially more than one year, how bout that?

Have you met our village idiot? Apparently his wife banged Neal Brown at a little general for gas money. Yea, he still mancrushes over guys with messy hair that chug Red Bull
