Recruiting wise, whats the drop dead date to secure staff.

If in fact there is a coaching change,I'm sure it would be announced Monday, November 30th. To keep the recruits we have and to send a message to any we might still have a chance to get, what would you think should be the latest date to have a new HC hired, and some, if not all of his staff in place? If like many on here have already stated, Julie like any good AD has a list, and might have gone through back door channels to help speed up the process if she intends to pull a rabbit out of her hat, so to speak. Oh and of course some of the coaches we would want are involved in bowl games so unless they are willing to leave early, we will have to wait a little longer than we would like.

It Rutgers had any brains in the PR department, and had made the decision to get rid of Flood, they would do it on Black Friday. The media angle on a Flood firing would be to focus on the embarrassment of the email issue and/or anything else uncovered by RU's investigation. Do it on a day there is so much else going on the RU story would get little air time.

If he is let go, the important thing is to get the right person in place (good luck with that...a lot of competition this year). It may take a while. Once someone is hired, it will be up to the new HC / staff to re - recruit all the committed players. RU will most likely take a hit in recruiting, it usually happens. It seems many always want everything....a new, fresh exciting HC and a solid recruiting class in the first year. It doesn't usually work that way.

To actually answer your question, it needs to be done before the 11th. We have recruits coming for their officials and 14th is start of the dead period.

Compounding the problem is the remote prospect of having to wait until the night of Dec.5th to determine if Kansas State will knock us out of the final bowl spot.

Do our best with the new staff to secure recruits. But let's not go crazy if they want to leave. In fact a new head coach may get kids who aren't currently interested in Rutgers. Get ready guys. It's going to be glorious to watch a staff recruit better because it can't get any worse than it currently is.

Not defending or bashing anybody. If you think this current recruiting class isn't a good one you aren't looking at the rest of the BIG. It's not OSU or the elite group, but it's right up there with the rest. It will be a real setback to lose this group. Again,I'm not advocating for or against Flood.

We don't need to rush to hire a coach. There are 2 weeks in December we'd miss out on recruiting, then we'd have a dead period of about a month. So if we had a coach lined up and he was announced a few days later he would have 10 days of recruiting before a month long dead period. If we couldn't get a coach right away then I rather we take our time and do it the right way.

PSU's last two hires happened in January. Franklin came in January and started recruiting like his hair was on fire.

I can't see the admin waiting for the 5th to see if we are making a bowl at 5-7. His fate will be known by Monday at the latest, most likely by Sunday after the MD game.

A 5-7 Rutgers team does not deserve a bowl game, and frankly should decline if invited. So therefore, the idea of a bowl game should have zero impact on the coaching search and/or selection process.

Its a good one for Flood. On an average basis its 8th in the conference right now - unfortunately for us - the top four are all in our division and significantly better (the lowest MSU and Michigan are at 3.29 vs our 2.89). The issue is - Flood hasnt shown he ccan coach a lower ranked class up, and its not high enough to begin to catch up to the guys at the top in light of that.

For RU to succeed we either need someone who can consistently recruit top 25 level classes (which I think is possible here with us in the Big Ten and the right staff) or someone who can recruit in the 40s but coach guys up. Flood can do neither.

I also dont see RU waiting until the bowl announcement. Either the MD 20,000 person (500 student) crowd and the constant blowouts sways them, or it doesnt.

College teams have played Bowl Games without their former HC. Wisconsin twice recently. WVU pulled one of it's big NYD Bowl wins with Stewart replacing Rich Rod.

If we really reach and say RU makes a bowl and Flood is gone, you simply put N Wilson is charge again.

You are correct, 5-7 teams do not deserve a bowl game. I would even agree 6-6 teams should also stay home.
However, the extra practices afforded bowl teams would certainly serve us well this year with are young secondary. Blame all this 5-7 and 6-6 crap on the need to, all of a sudden, have 80 bowl games.

Whether we decline or not, should have no impact.
