Ya know, before now I was just frustrated and disappointed. But now I want to punch his 17ing face in.

that the replay official has access to at least as many camera angles as the whatever network is televising the games. That excuse is a total <17> cop-out.

find it hard to believe that there is that much blatant Florida bias out there. Call me naive...

That is the quote that my old high school coach used frequently. ( & a few on this board live by this!)
I think the SEC has the same philosophy!

Let's see.....

UF has a QB that has been overblown by the media for whatever reason, UF has a lot of bandwagon fans across the US, probably in part because of said QB, and UF has a ton of money. Those bandwagon fans will jump off just as soon as Bible Drill Boy gets taken down by someone, which means lower TV ratings.

"Good ol' Missippi State" taking down their attention magnet is something that they do not want to happen.

It's pretty obvious to me that the SEC wants Florida and Tebow to go undefeated and win the NC, and if at all possible have Tebow win the Heisman in the same season. The Heisman is probably not going to happen, but otherwise they're going to give Tebow a storybook ending if it's the last thing that they do.

Also, if they could get undefeated #1 UF with Tebow and undefeated #2 Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, it would probably blow the ratings through the roof.

I don't have trouble believing that in the grand scheme of things, the powers that be in the SEC would like to see Florida win. I just have trouble accepting that the replay official knew that the call should be overturned, could easily anticipate the backlash given the events of the past couple of weeks, and yet was still brazen enough to let the play stand. Are the officials responsible for all these blown calls Florida and Alabama fans? Or do their bosses actually tell them "You need to make sure Florida wins this game?" I'm just having difficulty grasping what actually goes on behind-the-scenes.

Yes, that call was wrong, as wrong as the call we got against Bama a couple of years ago. It sucked, I feel your pain, truly and it should have been reversed.

But what I get from reading the board is this outrage over that one call and seemingly nothing about the worst fake punt call in modern football history? The fake punt gone bad had more to do with you losing at that point in the game than the bad call. You were down by three deep on your own end of the field.

Just saying, rational posters will get my point.

the SEC would give the guy under the table. I could stand some backlash for 50 grand. Besides, people are going to look out for themselves over the integrity of the game any and every time.

If you had the chance to screw over Vandy, would you do it? You're probably going to say no, but the truth is a lot of people would because who cares if Vandy gets screwed? That's how a lot of people in the SEC view MSU football.

And as far as the backlash, I wouldn't be surprised if the guy didn't think his name would get out there. Remember- they're not listed in the boxscore or anything like that.

Think about this- if there's nothing up, it's an awfully big coincidence that Florida is getting the benefit of these calls EVERY single time.

because when they all look at it, it is indeed blue - your replay official says it is orange - your thoughts?

"umm - what the rest of the world thinks and more importantly what the video actually shows is irrelevant"

what a dumb *** - the BALL WAS OUT - IT IS CLEAR ON THE REPLAY - how can this idiot sit here and tell us with a straight face that his guy didn't botch it -

i think i'm just going to tell my wife that i'm not going to clean the windows on the back porch because they really aren't dirty - even though you can't see through them.

As soon as the play goes to review, the official calls Mike Slive and names his price? Or is it understood, if this happens, you do this, and we pay you 50 grand? I agree, it is very suspicious that all these calls are going UF and Bama's way, but I think some are making it out to be a little more of a conspiracy than it actually is.

minutes after the play occured that ESPN has synced-up the different camera views. This was not available at the time the call was made...

I've never been an SEC official.

I am sure that they have meetings or conference calls as all officials do, though.

The reverse angle told the whole story. And it was the 2nd replay shown.

During the game, the replay went very very quickly. No way did the replay guy even look at the reverse angle.

it's about whether or not the replay official blew the call or not. Period. I have't read anybody saying we would have won if the call had not been 17d up. We're just saying the replay guy screwed up big time. Doesn't have to cost us the game to be blatently wrong.

First off, I think the SEC has a history of protecting its big money programs, but I think that has extended now with the BCS.

Right now, you have 4 at large BCS spots available. One of those is going to be taken by a non-BCS school most years now, and another may occasionally get snatched up by Notre Dame. That leaves 3 spots, sometimes only 2 for leagues to fight over. The difference between getting 1 BCS bid and getting 2 is a big difference financially for the conference and its members.

The worst thing that could happen in the eyes of the SEC would be for every team to be 9-3 or worse after beating up on each other all year, because that means only 1 bid. I think they recognize now that Florida, Alabama, and maybe LSU are the best chances the league has for making sure the league lands an at large bid. So far, those are the 3 teams that have received the benefit of the controversial calls.

given the lattitude that the replay official has is not having cameras in the right strategic locations. If there had been a camera looking right down the goal line (which I think should be a requirement) then the replay official would have had NO CHOICE but to reverse the call. However, given the camera was offset from the goal line slightly just like there was an offset with the illegal forward pass a couple of weeks ago against Houston (--though it wasn't actually formally reviewed Redding stated it likely wouldn't have been changed), the replay official can make the call he WANTS to make because he can always go with the old "evidence not conclusive enough" excuse.

Personally, in both cases, the evidence was plenty conclusive to any reasonable individual, but given the BS that Rogers Redding is spewing, any excuse possible will be generated to allow the officials to make the calls they WANT to make if the view is not absolutely perfect. In fact, in Redding's world OJ IS innocent.
