Senzel a 25-30 HR guy? Expecting him to be a A .310+ avg plus here, sure I agree. However his highest HR/RBI marks at any level was in 2017 with 14 HR & 65 RBIs. Barrero was also a Top 100 prospect and in the futures game. Age makes no difference to me at this stage in their careers when neither one has been good. Has Senzel also not played CF? RF, 2B & 3B. Don't need him at SS with the depth in the pipeline coming up in fact need both out of the way there. So far it's only SS & CF for Barrero so it tells me Senzel has be utilized in this lineup better than Jose with his flexibility. If Barrero can't play those positions, go back to Louisville like Senzel did after a couple of years.
Senzel in his 1st 350 ABs as a rookie 12 HRs, 42 RBIs, 14 SBs, 55 runs scored .256 AVG surpasses Jose's career numbers by a long shot.
Senzel career totals since 2019 140 runs, 23 HRs, 96 RBIs, 28 SBs, .242 avg.
Barrero career numbers since 2020 29 runs scored, 3 HRs, 26 RBIs, 9 SBs, and .183 career average.
I know everyone expected more from Senzel as a #1 pick and has been sorely a disappointment but it's not even remotely close compared to Jose Barrero. Both have dealt with injuries so that excuse is a wash.
