While the Reds are near the bottom in HR's, they're amazingly middle of the pack in runs scored.

Seems like that's how last year went after he got called up. Started out gangbusters, looked like a future star his first 4 or 5 outings before things started to go south for him.
Is the problem more in not having bull pen depth in the minors or starters? Or has the rotation and injury issues depleted the depth in the minors?
It was in 2016 I believe when they switched from the old purple and black. Remember seeing Winker, Schebler and Peraza still playing a handful of games that season at Slugger Field.

The best moves the Reds can make would be to promote from within calling up CES, EDLC, Lyon Richardson, Abbott & TJ Hopkins. Get them some meaningful experience this year. Don't mortgage the future trading away top prospects for rentals Cincinnati can't afford anyway. Would have then lost the prospects plus the veteran. It's the only way to sustain success than these quick 2-3 windows to contend in followed by another fire sale. Use the money coming off the books once the Griffey, Moustakas/Votto 2024 buyouts are through and continue to extend the current players like they did with Hunter Greene. That's how Tampa Bay does it and no reason with the loaded farm system for Cincinnati not to be able to do it in the years to come.
What it proves is that the player clock/TOS excuse is invalid now that we've seen Williamson, McLain & Stoudt all make their MLB Debut so there is no reason to keep holding them down at this point.
Sucks that the Steer hitting streak ended but one helluva game for India 3 hits, 2 HRs & 5 RBIs.
Don't forget in the game previous to this series the Cubs were slaughtered by the Mets, Tucker Barnhardt pitched the final inning. NLC teams are leaving a lot to be desired.
This. They’re 4 games back going into today. Nobody is saying go out and get rentals for a pennant run. Just bring up what you’ve got in the system and start tinkering with getting them where they’re going to be long term. Now is as good of a time as any. They’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain. DFA, demote, whatever, Meyers, Newman, Casili, to make room. Get what you can at pitcher for Senzel and Barerro at the trade deadline.

Ashcraft gets a win but walking too many guys and too many pitches over the plate lately. Still the difference in this series has been pitching and the Reds bullpen has been solid other than Gibaut and Herget.

BTW, mlb.com said this week Diaz was one of ten guys who'd likely be traded this summer but the Reds would set his price very high. How do Reds fans here feel about that?

Series like this only maintains the status quo making the FO feel like geniuses (they're not but at least Dick Williams is gone). But I'm actually amazed how well the offense and bullpen has done so far. And yes, the weak division helps a lot!
Moving Diaz would fit this Front Offices MO to a tee. Do they just not place any value in a quality closer?
Keep Diaz, in pre-arbitration through 2024 and should be in no rush to move him. 2024 does not have to be a bad season if the Reds get EDLC, Abbott, CES, Hopkins etc up here soon with enough experience to potentially contend next year. If not, 2025 and already have one of the best young closers in MLB with Diaz. They let Raisel Iglesias go for nothing. Received a joke pitcher named Noe Ramirez the Reds wound up sending back to the Angels and currently out of baseball completely. Hell, the Reds are only 3 back of a WC spot and 4 GB in the division just days from June. Diaz needs to be one of the players extended when the huge contracts start coming off the books.
There is zero reason to trade Diaz right now and realistically not going to find anyone better to step in his place. Cubs gave up Gleyber Torres for 2 months of Aroldis Chapman and Cincinnati has team control with Diaz so the asking price should be sky high. He's worth holding onto and see where this team can go in a couple years. The Reds should not even be considering trading any young, productive player at this stage of a rebuild. Goes for Jonathan India & Spencer Steer too. You know what you have with them unlike anyone who has yet to even make their MLB Debut. Trading any of these young, talented players now and the Reds would find themselves with even less experience prolonging the rebuild. Hope this FO will be patient and not trade away the players who belong in a Reds uniform.

No one in their right mind wants to see India or Steer get traded. Take those 2 out of the lineup and they'll be lucky to score 5 runs a week. Regardless how many infielders they have coming up, some of the prospects are going to be traded. All there is too it.
