Historic Bullitt Park in Big Stone Gap, VA is the venue for a VHSL Region 2D semifinal showdown between the top-seeded Union Bears (11-0) and the fourth-seeded Graham G-Men (8-3).

Graham, the reigning VHSL Class 2 State Champ, lost to Union 28-7 back on September 11th. However, these two teams are a bit different since they last met.

For one, Union is still producing at a high level on offense, averaging 46.1 points and 382.9 total yards per game behind playmakers like QB Kam Bostic (1301 yards passing, 19-6 TD/Int. ratio) and RB Keith Chandler (186Att. 1513Yds. 27 TD's). Defensively, the Bears are allowing just 9.5 points per game with 17 interceptions on the year.

But Graham is a much healthier footblal team than they were back in September. The G-Men have allowed just 50 total points during a seven-game winning streak. Furthermore, Graham leads the all-time series with the Bears 8-7, which includes victories in each of the past three playoff encounters.

Adding to the drama of this one is the absence of Bears Head Coach Travis Turner, who's reportedly been missing for over 24 hours during a police investigation (more on that here) amidst widespread speculation and rumors regarding his disappearance.

The Union Bears broadcasting crew do a really good job of calling the action with graphics and commentary. You can check out their call through our friends at the NFHS Network at the link below.

Scoreless after one period of play. Lots of football played between the 40's from what I've seen so far.

Meanwhile, in the other Region 2D semifinal, it's Lebanon leading Ridgeview 8-7 in the opening quarter.

Big interception for Union's defense courtesy of Braxton Bunch as the third quarer is winding down. Bunch came in with 19 receptions for 289 yards and 5 TD catches. Now the Bears have it in the red zone against Graham, looking to get that double-digit lead to take into the fourth quarter. Graham would sorely like to hold them to a field goal try.

Similar to Braxton Bunch, this Camden Wharton fella is a two-way impact player for the Bears. Coming in, Wharton had 20 receptions for 403 yards and 8 TD's on the year.

The Union defense has applied pressure off the edge, headed up by All-State performer Carlos Anderson from his d-end, spot and the Bears are closing in on their first shutout of Graham in their head-to-head series since 2017.
