IF Goochland and Poquoson both win AND things play out the way I predict them to, I think they might end up tied at 26.5...anyone more familiar w/Goochland and their opponents care to verify or chime in?

Amelia is much improved and are #4 in Region A. I think this game will be very close and could go either way. It will help Amelia being a home game. I believe Goochland will pull this one out, but it will come down to if Amelia can stop Goochland's rushing attack or if Goochland can hang with Amelia's passing attack. As far as their other opponents they've beaten Nottoway, Buckingham, Randolph-Henry and Thomas Jeffersonn should win with the other's losing. Poqouson beating a 3a school in York would give them more points though just depends on Rider points.

Goochland could end up with 240 points if they beat Amelia and Thomas Jefferson beats John Marshall. That would give them a rating of 26.6667 since they only played 9 VHSL games.

By my math, Goochland's max points (40) would be 26.66 if TJ wins their final game and Goochland is fortunate enough to beat Amelia. The other rider points are guaranteed since Goochland beat the remaining teams in which they all play each other. If TJ loses it would put Goochland at 26.44. Poquoson points are a little more unsure but you could see them getting 40 points for this week as well. The two teams they lost to will be heavy favorites and Southhampton will probably beat Franklin. It looks to be really close but you have to remember that you divide Goochland's total points by 9 instead of 10 because of their game against FUMA. I am not an expert at this but this is what I have come up with. A one to two rider point difference in any direction changes everything as far as who is the 1 seed.

I was dividing by 10 for Goochland, so that shows how much I know! It could get interesting, but it looks like Goochland will likely "out point" Poquoson for home field advantage...although, they both have to win first, which won't be easy.

Speaking of FUMA, didn't they used to have a really strong program w/some stud athletes back in the day? I remember it being a common destination for kids w/D1 talent that may not have had the grades/scores to get a scholarship as seniors in high school....

FUMA still gets a ton of talent. They had a coaching change almost 2 years ago and they have not been quite as good but they play a brutal schedule. They do not play any cup cakes. If you look at their ranking on Max Preps they are rated 119 with a 3-6 record. It has been a good series of games with Goochland. Before FUMA, Goochland had Benedictine on their schedule and I thought that was good as well.

Better check your math. Goochland max is 40 points for this week( 32- Amelia, 6 guaranteed district and 2points IF TJ wins). They are at 200 this week. 200 + 40 is 240? Divided by 9 is what? 26.6666. Where is this math wrong?

I have it likely.....as Goochland edging out Poquoson, if both win. Poquoson is not a sure win for the last game either. If both win, it's likely that Poquoson will be the 2 seed. Hopefully Southampton wins, and Southampton of course is a 3A school as well.

lol,,,amelia will not be close..tj will destroy 0-10 marshall....they play in the weakest district in the state...maybe in all 50..well, maybe not alaska...can someone fact check that...poq. wins region if both win no matter how the beating turns out....what is the line on this, rather what are we betting?

I can assure you that Goochland is taking Amelia for what it is. They are 7-2 and they are a darn good football team. I do not look at comparison scoring because different teams match up differently against the same team in common. I have much respect for Amelia and I can tell you that Nottoway has gotten much better as the season has moved on. As far as TJ goes, they have wrapped up the 1 seed and what do they have to play for? I hope they go into it to win it... I respect your opinion and I hope your right about the Amelia / Goochland game!

Honestly I think Goochland handles Amelia pretty good. Goochland is much better than the teams they lost to and we all know Goochland is the JRD bully year after year and psychology they have an advantage over the other.
