No one has faith in my guy Jim at Monacan it seems. Just last week Monacan was talked about a team that could knock off Louisa now they are going out in the first round.

I got Monacan just because they’ve beat some quality opponents. Dinwiddie looked good week 1 when I saw them, I know they’re way better now. Dinwiddie is a summer away from being “the man” again.

I still think Monacan's capable, even with their injuries, but Dinwiddie has had their number.

You are so right @DEVILSLB99. If Monacan can put together a run game and protect their qb they have a sound chance to beat Dinwiddie. The Generals have improved tremendously on both sides of the ball, but this young team has struggled closing out games. Injuries continue to plague both teams.

The Chiefs qb Hensley throws a nice deep ball and that could be the difference in this one. Monacan must limit big special team plays and defend the run. Dinwiddie must defend the short passing game and eliminate the rush. If the Chiefs hit the long oh well. If Monacan continues to muff snaps Johnson and Tucker will dine on Chiefs qb. Offensively, the Generals will likely attempt to run the ball right at Monacan with three options (Barlow, Hilton, and Tucker). The Generals passing game is hit and miss, but they have four very capable receivers.

I look for a very high scoring game if the weather cooperates. Yes, Coach Mills has beaten Henderson 3 straight times in the playoffs, but it just may be the Chiefs turn????

@DEVILSLB99 we have faith but at the same time you gotta win one at some point. Referring to beating Dinwiddie in the playoffs. Can we? Yes. Will we, we’ll see. I honestly have no idea who will win this game. Lot’s of parody across B in my opinion. If Monacan doesn’t stop Barlow we are going home it is really that simple.

I wouldn’t count Jim out at all. For one reason more than most Jimbo Henderson is a born and bred Hopewell Blue Devil. His dad was the DC at Hopewell for 30+ years and has had to stop that Billy Mills offense as long as he’s been at Dinwiddie, I know Dad will be giving his tips to stop that defense, now add in a great relationship with Ricky Irby at Hopewell and I would bet there have been some film shared and some notes swapped. I don’t see Dinwiddie putting up a ton of points against that Monacan offense.

If show Joe is on the board (you know who you are A-B brother) I know your boy is good but Dinwiddie wins in a close one and goes to EV-

This truly depends on which version of each of these teams shows up. They have both looked very good and very self-destructive. I'm calling Dinwiddie with the upset because while I think Monacan's ceiling is higher Dinwiddie has a higher floor. Basically, Dinwiddie at their worst is better than Monacan at theirs.

Last thoughts:

I can certainly say these two coaches are extremely close and do not enjoy playing one another. Coach Mills has never lost to Henderson in the playoffs (3-0) and is 7-1 against Monacan for his career. Hendersons only win came in the first game of the 2014 (18-13) regular season.

Key matchups:

Tyler Hensley qb (Monacan) vs. Dinwiddie secondary. Hensley has thrown for 1,572 yards with 17 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Monacan receivers are fast and will stretch the defense. Hensley has good touch on the long ball, but struggles with consistency throwing the short and intermediate passes. Monacan will likely throw short screens to set up the Dinwiddie secondary. Defensive ends Johnson and Tucker will have to pressure Hensley to keep him from making the big throw. Mixing up single coverage and multi coverage looks may provide some relief.

Edge: Monacan

Monacan run game vs.Dinwiddie run defense. Josiah Nelson is the leading rusher for Monacan, but I am not sure he is available. Monacan has used numerous backs this season and had little success running the ball last week. Dinwiddie's run defense has gotten better each week. They have faced a plethora of 1,000 yard backs with sporadic success.

Edge: Even

Monacans defense vs. Dinwiddie's running game. Monacan will attempt to put a halt to Dinwiddie run game. It's not easy putting the brakes on Robert Barlow. He has rushed for 1,382 yards and 25 tds this season and has over 2,112 all purpose yards. The Chiefs can't afford to let the little man rip off 309 yards like he did last week against Thomas Dale. Monacans run defense has been fair, but is not their best unit. If they concentrate too much on Barwell look for Brenton Hilton who can run the read option well to have a good day on the ground.

Edge: Dinwiddie

Monacans defensive backs vs. Dinwiddie's receivers. Monacan has excellent cover guys and they are athletic. If Dinwiddie has experience it's their receivers. Drumgoole is the possession receiver and Pride can stretch you out. The key here is will Brenton Hilton, qb 1,223 yards, 12 touchdowns and 6 interceptions have a solid game passing. Dinwiddie must throw to keep Monacan from loading the box. Hilton has been been great at times and has forced things at other key moments. Tons of upside here, but the Generals need the brilliant Hilton to show up tomorrow.

Edge: Even

Special Teams: Both teams have explosive return games. Dinwiddie's punter/kicker is solid and is 9/12 on field goals. His long is 42. Honestly, know very little about Monacans kicking game. The RTD stats indicate the Chiefs kicker has made 4/6 field goals. With the possible wet weather special teams play will be important.

Edge: I dont know

Good luck to both teams. One of these days the Chiefs and Generals will be able to avoid one another in the early rounds.

Hey man your spot on. Well said so I won’t add much. Woke up at 4:30 am thinking about work and football so needless to say this is a big one. Some of those Dinwiddie teams were flat out better than Monacan. 2013, 2016. Those losses don’t bother me. But I think 2015 and 2018 the teams were equal or maybe even in Monacan’s favor yet we did not win. We need one tonight.

it’s simple, stop Barlow. If your QB beats us via air strike God bless him. We need to just get the ball in our playmaker hands and good things will happen. Stay aggressive, don’t try to melt clock etc. Not who we are. Where ever we find success, we should do what coach Mills does... Keep pulling the same damn thread until they stop it but slip in a wrinkle here and there as needed.

Dang yall trying to make me go see this game instead of Deep Run-PG with these excellent takes.

@CHUKNOW, this is going to be a good one, but you have been high on the Royals all season and even suggested their playoff run early. Deep Run's qb will give PG fits, but I am not sure DR have faced the size and physicality the Royals bring to the table. That's a toss up game for sure.

PG run game is like what Navy said about our QB..., which one will be in attendance tonight. The primary two PG backs are brushing runners. But the whole team has gone cold a couple of times this year. It they are not focused on THIS game, when will they ever be?

Thanks @iDidntGetBanned, our young kids will appreciate the compliment. They played hard and deserved the victory. Barlow had 283 yards rushing, 43 receiving and 7 touchdowns. That's 592 yards rushing and 13 tds in the past two weeks. As I said before he is Dinwiddies version of EV's Diego Hunter.

Proud of this young group who has at times taken a licken, but keep swinging. Haven't had three starters since the GW game and lost two more mid season. Not sure how we held it together. Great coaching for sure.

Congrats to EV on a sound win. I guess we will renew our three year rivalry and make the trip up to Culpeper next week. Hope we can give the Cyclones a challenging game.

Win or lose it's all gravy and the experience our pups are getting will surely serve us well going forward. After all, we have two more fun years to look forward to with this group.

Monacan has some serious talent and their qb can throw it. Hate having to send a fellow RVA team home. Best of luck to the Chiefs.

Wow. Not only did a 5-5 Dinwiddie make the playoffs as a #7 seed, they went and beat a #2 seed on the road. The naysayers have been silent on this. The crow must be stuck in their teeth.:D
Dinwiddie would probably challenge for the Battlefield or Jefferson district titles if they were in those districts.

I am sure we could compete in both districts @OCBoy. Beating Louisa and EV not an easy mountain to climb. Overall, I do think the Central District was surely better this season. Not going to dog the Jefferson or Battlefield. Every district has their rivalries and demons. Hope to see you next Friday.

From two weeks ago:
@FoxesPride I watched the Dinwiddie/Hopewell game on YouTube (just search the names to watch), and Dinwiddie has gotten a couple guys back from early injuries and has improved.
Things went Dinwiddie's way in other districts and they made it in. Now how about you get your boy DP to own up to what he said about Louisa in 2017? I'll wait....forever. But please, no quid pro quo! You might have to bribe or extort though.

Dinwiddie made it in? Dinwiddie worked their butt off even at 5-5 to make playoffs. Dale, PG, Petersburg Hopewell GW Massaponax and North Stafford all in the playoffs. All but 2 going to 2nd round. This Generals team is young and has been hit by the injury bug but those are no excuses. They have also established themselves as perennial power for MANY years thanks to Coach Mills' program. You seem as if you feel Louisa isnt getting respected. I haven't seen anyone here not give Louisa their props. They are the team to beat..Period. Our 5-5 record has everyone counting us out. Any teams still playing after last night are there because they deserve to be and I wish the best of luck to all still playing.

1Gensfan, please don't get caught up in this debacle. You are way too nice. This thread reads Monacan and Dinwiddie and I agree not once was Louisa or one of their faithful fans mentioned. We know who we are, so let's not let others ruin the fun we are having. Let's get ready for EV. That's all that matters.

No one has questioned Louisa this year at all or last year. A few people might have questioned Dinwiddie earlier in the year but certainly the last few weeks the sentiments have changed. The gods honest truth is both programs are regional and state powers. I know we all want to have that under dog mentality and a chip on our shoulders but let’s not create something out of nothing. Everyone in B knows Louisa and Dinwiddie are top tier programs or they don’t deserve an opinion. Week 2 will be exciting. PHA vs Louisa will be a neat match up just because I haven’t seen that before. Dinwiddie vs EV... you already know!

@86CulpGrad no, it was about us playing Highland Springs. That dead horse has been beaten enough though.

Your not wrong but that wasn’t anyone from the 4B board. The 4B experts are here on these threads and no 4B regular has slighted the Lions in 2.5 years. Maybe someone poking the bear from another region but no fan of any team in 4B. Dr’s debate with other Dr’s and heart surgeons debate with other heart surgeons. If it didn’t come from one of us then it is meaningless fodder by my estimation. It is the same reason I don’t comment much on other regions Bc I am only looking into their sand box. Louisa is a worthy and convincing number 1 seed and no one familiar with 4B can argue that. PHA vs Louisa is getting more interesting to me by the minute. I am going to pick Louisa but I don’t think it will be a cake walk. I know they got annihilated by Varina but IMO Varina is a top 5 team in the state. They could have beaten Deep Run but didn’t. I’ll take Louisa but PHA is a $10 steak. What happened in the Spotsy vs EV game... sometimes HSFB just doesn’t make sense

this is the time of year for louisa to make their case on how good they are. unlike others I see it for what it is....they play weaker teams minus one game so they have to show it now. im hoping they show what they have this week but I will not just think they are going to run over anybody left in these playoffs. like you said who cares what other groups above us say we need to concentrate on OUR group. if anybody is goin to our game this week let me know id like to meet you. fox was a real good guy.

No one has said Louisa played a remotely strong schedule besides Ponax. No one has said Louisa will run over anyone in the playoffs either, besides a few EV fans saying Louisa would blow KG out. It's almost as if some folks want to see Louisa lose or have another nailbiter game just to say "I told you so, I'm not negative, just realistic." Almost.

In reality, Louisa will go as far as the defense and a healthy Jarett Hunter take them. And regardless of the schedule, that's a pretty darn good defense and football player.

Well it’s been proven EV and Louisa can both play weak schedules and still win 4B. Louisa made it to the championship and EV was a few seconds away from making a championship last year. They are doing what needs to be done and coaching is at its finest at this time of year.
