A Caroline at Huguenot First Round Game would be Box Office.

And if you’re Powhatan and Atlee, you’re a big Caroline fan this coming week.

And for Spotsylvania, 7-3 might be good enough to sneak in. But they would have to beat both Eastern View and a much-improved James Monroe to do it (if they lose to Caroline this Friday).

Huguenot would possibly put 60 on Caroline

I think that Spotsylvania finishing 7-3 would get them in should they do that. Atlee plays Armstrong this week and Varina next week. My nieces went to Atlee so I hope they win, but they will be doing very good to split those games. So Atlee could go 2-2 in there last 4 games and finish 5-5. Powhatan plays Huguenot (5-1) this week and Manchester (7-0) next week - splitting those would be a tall order.

Dale @ Dinwiddie this week has huge playoff implications! Dale is currently in 3rd place in region 6A and Dinwiddie in first place in region 4B. Dale could slip out hosting first round if they lose.

It looks like I am stuck between @Virginia HS Football Fan and @General172011. I respect what Caroline has done this far and if they knock off Courtland and Spotsylvania they will likely be a top four or five team. Film tells me they have some athletes and may pull off an upset in round 1; however, I don't believe they could beat Huguenot, nor do think Caroline would beat them by 60. I'm thinking 35-14???? I don't see Powhatan or Atlee crashing the party unless Spotsylvania falls apart. Based on my calculations, minimum and maximum. They have a big hill to climb. Both Atlee or Powhatan would be one and done. I said this before Spotsylvania could make it past round one and Coach Lunsford knows how to win in the playoffs. Would like to avoid them. It's all about matchups anyway. By the way, if Dinwiddie, Huguenot, Varina, Louisa, and Caroline win out it's going to be a rough go for Caroline as they will likely finish 4-5 and play Varina. Courtland could finish 4-5 if the beat Caroline. Going to be fun.

@VolNation85_rivals, I like your thought pattern. Hypothetically speaking Dale will likely get 24 points for a loss and 44 points for a win. Visa versa Dinwiddie will likely get 44 points for a win and 24 points for a loss. A loss could hurt both teams.

No doubt. A loss does hurt both teams but Dinwiddie probably has a little more room for error in terms losing the chance to host a first round playoff game this week.

I just think that the regional playoffs are going to be so much fun this year. There’s an aura of unpredictability surrounding them.

If the usual suspects go deep and make a run, that’s cool and can be expected. If others win a game or two and/or either play teams close or eek out a surprise, that shouldn’t be ruled out as well.

What we are seeing at both Caroline and Spotsylvania is not just an increase in talent level, but an increase in belief as well (yes, I am fully aware of the Spotsylvania choke job against Courtland…and boy do they need a kicker).

But…without getting all sappy as I type this from a cafe in Tbilisi, Georgia…I just think it’s wonderful seeing different teams in the mix in an absolute gauntlet of and grotesquely (and unfair) oversized region.

In the playoffs, we will see battles between teams who have to learn/re-learn how to win and those who have an established and consistent winning culture.

And how can one not love that?
