I do think he will leave at the first opportunity, but I don't see one out there for him at this point. That's not a slam on Ole Miss -- I just think he's a snake oil salesman, all hype and no substance, and if he sees an opportunity he'll bolt. If he can leave and go somewhere with less immediate pressure to succeed, my money is on him doing it. I obviously don't have a stake in it, I just don't like the guy -- and I'm saying that I wouldn't like him if I were an Ole Miss fan, not "I don't like him because he's the OM coach".
I was shocked that Nix wasn't fired on Sunday, to (a) distract your fans from the loss and (b) take the heat off of himself this offseason. The only thing I can figure is that he's seeing if he can squeeze ooooone more year out of the current staff, then make a change after next year if they don't win. The longer he puts off firing his staff, the longer he can stretch his own contract out.
Just my take on it, but again, I don't like the guy, so I can probably be accused of being overly cynical.
