Remember that time thirteen months and one day ago that Beran scored 17 against Illinois ?

I was in the arena to see it. He looked confident and poised.

A shame a 6’9 guy has zero ability to score around the rim. His go to move is throwing himself against whoever is around him praying that a foul is called

I would say the regression of Beran this year and Buie at mid-season have been the two most consequential and disappointing things about this season.

Think they will get better, next season? Will there be a next season for some of these guys? And not only those two.

I don't think you can say Buie has regressed. He had 5 straight games in double figures between December 9-26. Unfortunately, that handful of games was the anomaly. Buie has only been in double figures twice in the other 14 games this season. Buie is a career .309 three-point shooter and career .363 FG shooter. Blech. You'd think that with these kinds of numbers, he'd think about starting to take some better shots--or at least not soooo many terrible ones. Haha. Nope!

Beran, on the other hand, only had 2 games in double figures last season. That Illinois game was the anomaly. This season, he has been in double figures in 4 games. Again, not really a regression. But I think you should expect better play and more consistency out of a 4-star recruit by this time in year 2!

I sadly want to add the Kopp disappearing act to one of the top two spots on that list.

It's bad, but it's absolutely because teams devote a ton of energy to denying him the ball the entire time he plays. The most important thing he needs to improve on this offseason is finding a way to fight through and still get open.

He is our most consequential player by far, in the sense that when he is on the court (33 mpg), we are outscored by 48 (896-848), with splits of 1.00/1.07, but in the 7 mpg when he sits, we are outscored by 90 (232-142) with splits of 0.81/1.25. Obviously the defensive aspect isn't on him as much since he isn't a great defender to begin with, but when he sits, teams are able to shut down the rest of our players much more easily.
