I don't really have anything different to add, but this one is in my wheelhouse so I'll contribute:
Upscale Dinner: $25+ / plate
* Acre is the best restaurant in East Memphis. They execute some great dishes consistently.
* Andrew Michael's is a close second. They guys that run this place are more creative. They have some misses, but very few. They own Hog and Hominy across the street.
* Erling Jensen: This place is often forgotten about, but really divine. Probably the most expensive of all the options.
* River Oaks: I've only eaten here for lunch. I hear good things, but it would not be my first choice.
* You can walk to Interim and it is decent, but not great.
* Folk's Folly is the quintessential steak house, but not my speed.
Mid-range Dinner: $15+ / plate (not a lot in this range, more of a mid-town thing)
* Hog and Hominy: This place is nationally recognized, low-key, creative, and excellent, but not for vegetarians or anyone on a diet
* Buckley's: This place is what it is. It's an old Memphis mid-range steak house. I love it, but temper your enthusiasm.
* Swanky's Tacos: It's like a Chipotle, only more comfortable and with a bar. The food is not excellent but I like the atmosphere and the drinks.
If you only have one night and don't want to do fancy, go to Hog and Hominy.
