MSU alumni do not behave like Alabama walk-on alumni. We take pride in our alma mater as an entity, not just as an outlet for semi-pro athletics. We do not measure our university's worth by wins and losses but rather by the memories created there by late nights in the library, involvement in student organizations, and banging hot chicks from Mississippi farm country.
We do not need $4 million coaches or recruiting national championships to affirm our slipping self image. We know who we are. And I can use that tricky little pronoun "we" when I refer to Mississippi State.
Redacted, myself, and plenty of other MSU alums enjoy Mississippi State athletics as a diversion to the rigors of daily life. Much like golf, cigars, scotch, or softleg. But at the end of the day, we simply don't think Mississippi State football is divine. To justify our passion we need not reference Bible verses, just our degrees.
So take your smack elsewhere. I am not trying to defend MSU football. That would be silly and certainly doesn't make me a bad fan. I am simply attempting to point out the delusion, idiocy, and Calvin-from-Green-Hill mentality that permeates Alabama so deeply that a Birmingham Southern grad feels like he can reference national championships that occurred prior to his birth to attempt to belittle another. As a former Alabama fan who has seen the light, pointing out such gayness will always be a little part of my life calling.
That said, gooooooooo Panthers!!!
