Saw a story today that Alabama is getting ready to sign a 10 year 150 to 160 million dollar deal with Learfield media sports, the same company that State has. I'm guessing our deal is not that much.

Also saw in the 2012_2013 season Alabama had revenue of 143 million dollars from their athletic department. Amazing the amount of money we compete against.

Saw where our softball team bussed to and from Tennessee this weekend and I'm thinking that Alabama and other sec teams minor sports teams don't take long bus rides if they can fly. Those are the difference between the haves and the have nots.

Starkville to Knoxville is a little further than Tuscaloosa to Starkville. That said, I doubt many minor teams fly to most games

Would you seriously want to spend extra athletic revenue on chartered planes for non-revenue producing sports?

No. Pretty sure the baseball team drives to Baton Rouge. That's gotta be 6 hours on a bus. Do we fly to Gainsville or any other SECE schools?

They can also fly coach

I see soccer and swim teams, etc. in the airports all the time, but 6 hours isn't that long of a ride

Y'all missed my bigger point about the incredible amounts of money that many of these big budget teams have and what we compete against. Alabama's gonna have a 200 million dollar budget before long. I don't care how much more money we get from the sec, we don't have that kind of loot.

Well they can't spend it on recruits. That's all well and good for Alabama. They have twice the population of MS. State's will be at $100,000,000 so technically we are proportionate.

It was Croom...we were coming off an 8-5 season with a Liberty Bowl victory and the ego was getting pretty large...in addition to flying down the day or the game (v La Tech), he somehow managed to have the team stay at the Ritz Carlton downtown Atlanta for the Ga Tech game and had a pretty decent size entourage surrounding him...
