Richie Brown..how good can he be?

I think B Brown will take Skinners spot and R Brown will back up Mckinney.

I think Brown needs to bulk up more. He may be 235 but he could play at closer to 250. Thats what or about what Chris White played at. He isnt as tall but I haven't seen Richie blow anyone backwards yet. I think his instincts got better as this season went and he is gna be a helluva LB for us before its all said and done. Just think he could use a few more pounds for some more pop.

That's Beniquez's spot to lose. He actually started 2 or 3 there this year -- and started the bowl ahead of Skinner in the spot.

Richie will be a stud for us next year as well behind McKinney IMO. Be interesting to see how Arrington(if the move was final) and Dez Harris factor into the mix.

I couldn't believe how small he was this season. Played very well, just needs to get bulked up some.

When I see him in there his instincts seem to be very good. His reads are right, he's always around the play, he diagnoses quickly. The pick in the egg bowl this year was a great sniff out of the play by him.

I haven't watched him much in coverage, taking on blocks, or getting off blocks. The latter two would be partially strength items.

I agree, he's a football player and is just going to get better and better as he

matures and learns. You can't teach instincts and football IQ and he has it.

Probably get blasted for this, but considering our depth at LB and need for rush ends, i'd consider moving McKinney to OLB/DE type of position. Might not be HIS best fit, but it could be best for our team.

Our best personnel "fit" is in a 3-4 with Nick James in the middle, Preston Smith on one side, and Chris Jones on the other. Of course, assuming James continues to get it together, as it appears he has been doing. Then choose the 4 linebackers you want out there. Got 7 of them that can play with 2 more coming.

Got ALOT of versatility next year with linebackers that can play end or S, DTs that can play DE, DEs that can play LB, etc...

That's not a bad idea, especially if you consider that Holmes could move back to LB. He has no place at TE with us signing a JUCO and with Samuel getting more & more playing time.

We've got 5 returning LBs --- McKinney, Brown, Brown, Wells, & Jackson. Sixth could be a battle between Holmes and Arrington.

We should have a heck of a special teams coverage unit with all these quality LB, DB, TE types on the roster.

5 with extensive PT -- plus Dez Harris who by all accounts has been totally insane, Arrington, and Holmes. So, really 8 already with Gerri Green and Deshon Cooper on the way.

I'd say against certain teams a 3-5-3 would even be better, especially the spread teams. I've always like putting your best athletes on the field and that is the way to do it. Wells and Arrington can cover the slot guys against the weaker QB's featured in the spread. It's hard to tell though, How strong does Hughes come back? Cox, Redmond, and Love will be battling. Calhoun is the only one that seems to have his spot locked down in the secondary. It's going to be interesting because we are two deep at that 'tweener position, (SS,OLB) which is good because against the spread those guys can get gassed quickly.
