We all this is going to happen....I would go as far as the say it wont be there only one cancelled or postponed week 1. It will be tough on schools to postpone them and make them up later with the season schedule the way it is.

I saw where Eastern Randolph and whoever they play has already cancelled.

Looks like this Football Opener will not happen as Covid as already Stuck in Football

I'm sorry to interrupt you Mr. Bluedevil1996, if you still even remember that name that folks voted for. We will just call him "The Demonrat"

Yours and my lust for football has driven all of us in endless circles chasing the cries of athletes in some unseen chamber, always seeming so near, yet somehow out of reach. But you will never find them. None of us will. because of the Demonrat.

This is where this season story begins and ends.

And to you, my brave fans, who somehow were looking forward to some football this season, I have a feeling that's not what may happen. I have a feeling that we are right where we are because those folks voted the Demonrat in.

That's what they voted for and now the expectations are not so popular. I am remaining calm and near my FM Radio for any sudden change but not expecting it. 2021 will be remembered of everything that is to come, as the agony of every tragedy should. And to all expected to watch football, be still, and give up your spirits. This season does not belong to you, me or anyone. The Demonrat is in full control!

COVID-19, if you can hear me, I knew you would stick around in NC. It's in your nature to place everything on hold. What became of you, I should have known you wouldn't be content to disappear, not then, not now, but we must have hope that you will disappear - we wont except this as the new norm. For as we know that South Carolina is the next state over. They did fine!

Is the air different on their turf verse North Carolina?

Doubt it!

Someone with some knowledge help me out here. If we have someone who has tested positive( I assume thats what happened then why is a game that is being played 2 weeks from now being cancelled??

The article says they wouldn’t be able to resume practice until February 23rd. Too little practice to feel safe about playing.

I'm confused is Richmond having to quarantine or Purnell Swett? Because the way I read the article was it was PS. RC supposedly practiced today. So they should be good to play if they can find an opponent, such as Union Pines.

If a team has small numbers there season could be in jeopardy with one outbreak. My son's team has combined to have 1 football team (no JV) They have about 60 players. A lot of teams are not going to have a JV team in my area which is bad for development. We have one team in our area that had 18 players on first day. IMO they should probably call it a day if they can't get that number closer to 30. I'm sure it will not happen but it would be nice to have a 5th quarter for 9th and 10th graders to play after the varsity game for 30 minutes running clock. I think the season will get completed but it will be a struggle.

I've heard of a few without JV's already that are 3A and 4A teams. Pretty common at 1A but gonna be rough on a lot of kids having to stand around instead of getting experience on JV. I would play with less on V to give the JV a chance to play this spring. It will pay more dividends in the future to do so.

This past year (the fall) our season in SC went through many adaptations and adjustments to fill our schedule. I was very fortunate to have been part of a program where the kids and coaches were all on the same page. Our Seniors were great leaders as far as setting an example and keeping others in check. It really comes down to the kids our Seniors decided they were not going to miss out on their Senior season and would do whatever it took to play. We had more issues with coaches being exposed during school and being quarantined than players. It will be hard, it will be frustrating, it will be never ending and it will make the HC and AD insane but it was truly worth it all to see our kids enjoy themselves, come together for a common goal, persevere and provide our community with something positive to look forward too. We drove 2 hours to play a team we would never have played before in a game that was put together in 5 days. Teams are going to have to be flexible and able to adapt to many situations they would never encounter in a "normal" year. The point i am trying to make is........it will not be a normal year, hang in there, show some grace and patience and be happy to help some Senior play his last snaps of high school football.

My son's team just lost a game because the opponents conf schedule got changed because a school doesn't have enough players to play this spring. As you stated this will be a journey!
