WVU defensive end Shaquille Riddick was part of history in this NFL draft. He’s among three Akron natives chosen in the same draft for the first time in 40 years. Riddick, who graduated from Akron Early College High School and played sports for Buchtel High, was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals.

The others were Doren Grant, a cornerback from Ohio State University and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, picked by the Steelers; and Ohio State wide receiver Devin Smith, chosen by the Jets.

Smith and Grant are second cousins who were roommates throughout college. Growing up in Akron, they befriended Riddick.
