Riley needs to keep his job until 2019-2020.

Talent comes here because of the relationships with the coaches, people think i'm crazy but you are not coming to Huskerville for the snow and the cold and because you like the scenery, they are coming here because they like the coaches and have relationships with them, at least the out of state fellas, I can see a Cam Jurgans staying because he always wanted to be a husker, but Bookie and others not so much. we stay at this level if we bring in another staff.

You don't believe a new staff will bring in any solid recruits? If we go 6-6 as the poster above predicted this class will fall apart. Yes many come because of the relationships with the coaches but 6-6 is the writing on the wall that these coaches are done the next year.

I personally believe there is a great chance that the right hire could sign a better class next year than a 6-6 Riley class. However this hire needs to be determined fairly quickly after and if it appears we are going to be at 6-6. Now a couple of big wins in the next 3 weeks.......Wisconsin and Purdue and there is some chance that it could help recruiting. But the bottom line is its all on MR to get the wins.

No. If we offered P.J. Fleck the job he would be here yesterday, Minn1954.

What are you talking about? P.J Fleck was an absolute nobody at the end of the 2014 season when Bo was fired and Riley hired. His team went 8-5 in 2014. Why would he have been considered a candidate to be head coach at Nebraska.
Again, you cannot fire a coach that wins 9-10 games every year and expect to have good candidates lining up to coach your team.

That is not true. Riley was hired because SE wanted a nice puppet.

That is not true. Riley was hired because Barry Alvarez recommended him.
Please comment on firing a coach that has won 9-10 games for seven consecutive seasons and the likelihood of finding a coach who will win even more games.
Only three college coaches won at least nine games every year from 2008-2014 and Bo was one of them.

You want to go with the Barry Alvarez theory? SE admitted he had his eye on Mike Riley for several years before even coming to Nebraska.

Not how his post reads at all.

1. Let hem recruit.

2. If they are 6-6 next year, they’re gone.

"next year is going to be rough" .. if we are expecting another rough season next year then let a new guy give it a whack and let him deal with a transition class this year rather than next year

"next year is going to be rough"
Everyone has said that... I haven’t seen a single person dispute that next year’s schedule is brutal. And if the rough schedule leads to a bad record, they will be gone. But even with the harder schedule, if the talent that has been and is being brought in could weather the storm and lead to a better than expected record. If it doesn’t, they’re gone.

At least, that’s how I took his post.

Exactly. The first year of a coaching change is always going to be rough. If we aren't expected to win anything next year with a tough schedule anyway, might as well bring in a new coach and by year 2 with all the systems in place, maybe we could make a run with an easier schedule.
