Born in 1790 just a few months after George Washington took office, John Tyler was America’s 10th president, serving from 1841-1845. Harrison Ruffin Tyler, Tyler’s last living grandson, died this past weekend at the age of 96.

Time is bonkers

You started this, so bear with me.

What's probably more bonkers than time is the Tyler family's penchant for having lots of kids, and at very advanced ages.

This grandson's father was born to the former president in 1853. John Tyler the Prez was 63 at the time.

Harrison Tyler, the presidential grandson in question, was born to John Tyler the Prez's 13th child, Lyon Tyler, in 1928. Lyon Tyler (who shoulda been called Old Frisky) was 75 when Harrison was born.

That means that Harrison's Old-Grandad John Tyler the Prez had been dead for about 66 years when our recently departed grandson was born in 1928. There ya go. Stranger than fiction.

Battling a toddler now, so can't look it up, but Google Germany's last payment from the Treaty of Versailles.

ETA: 10-3-2010. 8 years, 1 month, & 8 days shy of a century since The Great War ceased fire.

I know a guy right now who's grand dad was born a slave. This guy is my age. His granddad was born in 1862. His dad was born was born in 1920. Both his dad and granddad were hitting it when they were older.

I have probably seen each episode of the Andy Griffith Show 100 times, but every time I watch one again its just as funny as it was the first time I saw it.
Same here. If I read a book, I'll never ever read it again, but, I've watched each episode of Andy and also MASH soooooooo many times. I've been watching Andy since I was a little kid (in my 60s now). Been watching MASH since Spring of '82 when I came to MSU. My suitemates in Suttle got me hooked, we would watch it at 6:00 p.m. and as soon as it was over we'd trudge up the hill to The Perry for dinner.
