You had to have been around in the early days of SixPack to remember Brutius, but if you were here, you almost have to remember him. He had a lot of opinions...I mean A LOT..... and wasn't afraid to share them. And if you disagreed with him and posted that, well you probably got taken to task by his biting wit.

Jackie Frank "Russ" Russell passed away Friday morning, one day short of turning 55. His obituary can be found here: https://www.sullivanfunerals.com/obituaries/jackie-russell-8/#!/Obituary

The obituary doesn't say this, but Russ was from Greenwood and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1989, along with the football player that Russ was convinced could be a superstar, Handy Campbell. I met Russ that fall when he moved to Mississippi State as a freshman and lived in Sessums. It just so happened that I was his RA. I had a great group of guys on my floor, but as it turns out Russ and his roommate/cousin are about the only ones that I am still in touch with.

Perhaps his most noteworthy contribution to SixPack and the Mississippi State-Ole Miss Rivalry was getting Ross Bjork to tweet the famous wrestling belt photo. He loved trolling and getting responses. This was one of his crowning achievements.

Russ stopped posting on SixPack some years back so if the name doesn't ring a bell for you, well that's too bad for you. He was a unique individual, never short on an opinion. I'll miss complaining with him over text about Mississippi State and insulting the Braves while he came right back at me about the Cubs. We kept talking about meeting in Atlanta each time the Cubs played there, but we just weren't able to make it happen. I'll carry that regret with me and think of him each time those two teams face off.

A bad heart took Russ away from us last week, and while those of us who knew him won't have him with us in person any more we will have his memories to think back upon and laugh, mostly just laugh. I'll miss my friend, but I'll remember him fondly.

That is where that photo came from? That is awesome. I always thought it was funny that UM had to settle for a TNA belt over a WWE one. That is a lower-level team in the SEC move

Never knew him but remember his posts well from the old days. I was just a lurker back then (surprises most of you I'm sure) but partly because of guys like him that would fly into a thread and chew you up and spit you out, yet, could compliment you on your next post too, assuming they agreed with it! RIP Brutius.............

I was thinking about him on Sunday evening after the Seahawks won. Wasn’t he a fan?

RIP Bruitius. Damn, 54. That's way too young.

You know, there's a long list of posters that I haven't seen or heard from in a while. Brutius was one of those.

Whatever happened to these posters, just to name a few. Some have posted here and others might be on another board now, not sure.

This is horrible news.

Prayers up to Brutius, a SixPack legend.

Shotgundawg is Colonel Kang on Jean's Page. He was posting on Maroon and White until he got run off recently.

I've always suspected Munson and Big Ern are rebranded and still here. Sesh is around but doesn't post often. HD6 is Brian Hadad...you can hear him live on your radio or read his occasional smartass musing on M&W.

Last I knew, Thick ran off to Elite Dawgs, or at least that's what I was told. Not sure if he's still posting there because I don't visit that abortion of a message board.

I'm sure Cadaver is here as someone else. You don't post at that volume and then all of a sudden go away.

After 20 plus years, we will inevitably start encountering long-time board members who shuffle off this mortal coil.
There are quite a few. Original 48, Pinegrovebully, Jackass Bob, and I know there are others.

Has anyone heard from maroonmadman lately?

It sucks but you are right. Start taking your health seriously, folks
Around this time last year my new life insurance policy monthly payment almost tripled. Called my agent to find out why. He said his line of work doesn’t require sugar coating. Their program said my policy had a 90% chance of paying out in the next 3-5 years. It was the eye opener I needed. Started walking, and eating better. Joined the gym last July. Haven’t felt this good in a long time. Well, except my shoulders, and knee.

Russ was one of a kind. I was around him through you and a couple others who were a couple years ahead of me at State and I came to enjoy him. Like Marshawn says, bitter is definitely an acquired taste, but Russ was a great one to acquire. God bless his family.

There is a reason when I realized I could retire at 46 I did. Lost my dad when he was 68 and his last years were ******, lost my mom at 74. A good friend of mine from State, Chris Pope, died around 35-36 years old. Life is too short to spend it in an office staring at spreadsheets all day. I am just grateful for it all and lifes early lessons about getting caught up in stuff and status, leading to financial ruin.

Spent a ton of time with him 91-93. Late night SF2 in his room with a bunch of us. Literally years on SneezyMUD which was the one thing that got him linked up with a real job....because that bastige was swapping majors almost every semester.

This really 17n sucks.

Shenanigans related, he and I were into getting single digit basketball student tix. One morning, we got to the hump waaaaay too early on that ticket release day. Someone left one door at the hump unlocked and we got in. We shot hoops in the dark (only outer concourse lights were on). Hah...Great times.
