. . . . combined have a 10 - 1 record, I believe. Any SR fans in the know believe this overall record is legit? Or is this record really not indicative of the talent on the field?

Based on what I saw their frosh probably go 6-3 with losses to BR LA on the way. Sophs I don't know obviously teams have people up

If this is the case, why all the gloom and doom from people in the Rita camp? It seems that the lower level are in pretty good shape.

Big test will be how they fare in final 2 league games vs Loyola and Rice. Rita Frosh beat Provy but lost to MC bad - who lost to Rice bad - so again not a lot you can take away from on lower levels. I'd guess Rita's Varsity did ok as Frosh and Sophs but may have digressed some over time. Happens.

No real obvious impact players on either team. I think there is more potential on the frosh team than the soph team. Though obviously that could change if kids grow. SR has historically low numbers on soph team. And frosh team has lowest numbers since transition era from 63rd street.

I think SR has underrated coaching on its lower levels. Those guys do a very nice job.

I'm not overly optimistic, but I'm obviously cheering like hell for a turnaround. This years frosh class was encouraging, but they desperately need a great incoming class.

Valid point. I think Septon nailed it with his synopsis of the situation. I just really wanted to see how SR would have done with this new 1 - 32 seeding, but I guess I might have to wait at least a year.

+1. Thanks for the response! Reads like you have a pulse on the situation. I am cheering like hell as well. Would have loved to see SR make the playoffs this year with 1 - 32 seeding.

Any score on the PC/SR Freshmen game this past Saturday? I believe this was the second meeting in three weeks with these two teams.

Rita can make a statement this weekend with wins vs the Loyola Sophs (who I think are also tied for division lead) and Loyola Frosh (who I think only loss is to Rice?)

I don't think any of us here are writing off Rita... granted not making football playoffs can affect some recruiting efforts but overall it will make the school work even harder to overcome this season's shortcoming. The question will be whether Rita makes a change in the program?

I am curious as well. LA and BR have great Freshmen classes and this would definitely be a measuring stick. I am jealous of BR; they're going to be in the mix for a long time.

I do know they'll be working very hard to fix this, as you correctly pointed out. I know SR is slim on talent this year, but I always thought, if a team had very good lines of scrimmages, the talent doesn't have to be so talented at the skilled positions. It seems SR has had some line issues this year.

Ignazio,

While I think St Rita is far from dead, I'm not sure what this link proves? Adding Ausie football players to the mix could certainly be interesting!

For only three weeks, though. At least, that's how I read it. Was Iggy be facetious? Lol.

For all of you ready to pronounce St Rita dead . . .
LINK

great news for school enrollment, but not sure this has much of an effect on the football program. I think most of these schools have a major problem with declining number of boys playing football. I think it especially hurts schools like SR because a large percentage of their student body used to play football, but that may no longer be the case going forward b/c of concussion/safety concerns.

Rita's Sophs beating Provy and MC is a nice season. If they can beat LA and Rice then that bodes well for Rita. If they lose both then still good

With MC having Griffth, Alek Thomas, Nakos, Brown, Styka up really means nothing to me. MC sophs were 5-4 in 2010 won 8A in 2012. Had people up. MC sophs in 02 were 9-0. So what had nobody up while everyone else did had 4 losses in '04. You must also look at program as a whole. The impact players, people up, other program's situations/personnel, transfers etc.

Agreed but I think Rita might have 1-2 guys up too. Still anything can happen. Rita needs to rebound next year - granted I don't know about any impact guys they have coming back (they seem to have some good RBs a Jr and Soph on their team) Don't know how much of a jump their current QB can make he'll need to work on his accuracy over off-season

Rita I would have to know their Non-Conf and cross overs next year. Blue Id say they are 0-4 next year.

Ouch - that would hurt going 0-4 again next year - if that happened next year then they'd have to make a coaching change. I think the Blue will be a toss up next year - I think Rita and Provy with most returning starters back next year but both Rice/MC return some key players too.

I've seen two SR soph games. I am not particularly optimistic about next year, as their O-line and D-Line are going to be undersized and lack talent -- both of which could change since boys can still grow at 16/17. QB position will also be a problem unless someone makes incredible improvement. SR has a nice soph RB on the varsity and a nice soph DB on the varsity. They have a LB on the soph team who is good enough to play major minutes on the varsity this year. But overall, they will be an underdog in every CCL Blue game next year as well.

I would say with Rita their frosh don't even have to beat LA BR-just play tight. like a 20-14 game. But if they lose like 32-6 both games that's not good. My Blue frosh class rankings along with Marist added are:
1. BR
2.LA
3 Marist
4.MC
5.SR
6.PC
