I kinda feel stupid now for railing on all the Ole Miss fans about how we killed them in recruiting this year

regardless of how we finished. We won't know for three years how good these classes are.

But it's nice anyway. If Bama is accusing you of cheating, you must be doing something right.

Rivals just thinks that much more highly of their class than ours. Not that big of a deal. Both OM and State did very, very well this year.

We'll also probably add Alex Williams and Willie Ferrell. They may give us a slight boost in the not so important rankings.

Regardless of the rankings, this was a heck of a closing job by Nutt today. It's looking like we're only going to miss on Marlon Brown, Skinner, and Tahj Jones out of the guys that were left on our list in the last couple weeks.

Rivals.com has UM with 36 signed LOIs right now. I am wondering who the 10 lucky recruits are who will be told sorry, the Red & Blue is not for you.

I believe 4 or 5 of them are signed as expected sign and place guys (none of the blue chip guys), and we're going to be offering a lot of grayshirts. The guys that have grayshirt offers already know about it.

Basically, it means we're going to be signing a fairly small class in 2010 (probably only 15-20 signees).

I can't see you guys signing anywhere near 20 next year. From what I understood, you guys were already short on numbers next year. Add to that it looks like you will be offering grayshirts now. 15 would have to be the max. That means a) MSU should have another good year in state next year as you guys will have to be selective or b) Nutt will burn some bridges with current players / committments which is never a good thing.

I predict some don't get in and you end up with about 5 greyshirts. The Rebs graduate a good many next year and will still be able to sign around 20 to stay under the 85. From what Yancy posts, the kids who are the greyshirts know who they are and are 1.) Not expected to make grades or 2.) Picking Ole Miss over smaller schools (like M. Thomas and maybe Montez) or 3.) Other reasons like Hunter (medical reasons), Ritter (because he loves Ole Miss).

MSU's class is not bad. Definately a lot of WR talent but there are 2 major holes IMO. Offensive. They got no one here and not enough at RB. Also, too many jucos but they lost all of Croom's D so they need it.

how many RBs should you sign in a class?

And why is ole miss giving greyshirts to marginal players?

Yes, we have, I believe 17 scholarship seniors next year, but we're still far enough below the 85 that we should have room to sign a full 25 next year. Now, if 6 or 7 of those are grayshirt guys, that'll leave us with around 18 or 19 scholarships to give, which means we'll probably sign in the range of 20-22 players to plan for a couple non-qualifiers at least.

Wasn't it Rivals who rated Barrett Jones (Bama signee out of Memphis) as the #1 center in the nation ?

Mr. Jones then told a local radio show that he'd NEVER played center during his HS career.

Recruiting rankings are worthless without the kids actually living up to the hype once they get to college.

this is very strange to have that number, there's only one other team in the top 25 that has 30 and that's arkansas. but this is mississippi so alot of them should fizzle out with grades.

still huge number though
