They are small but the D line is athletic. Their whole offense revolves around the QB. He is very dangerous when scrambling and likes to run a zone read. They are very succeptable to the pass. The QB couldn't miss against Galax, crazy stupid long throws that was on a dime. I don't know if his luck can hold up if it does, will be a good game

The 2010 team probably one of the best offensive teams Riverheads has had, offensive line probably the best and the backfield pretty elite also

RH corners and secondary seem to be very good. I would say if they had a weakness it would be in between the tackles. Essex could have pounded them, but instead chose to try and run around them and pass the ball with a not very accurate qb. RH doesnt pass well either, though they did hit a tight end seam for a td. But they dont really need to pass. I dont see Chil having much success on the edge against RH

Galax had zero pressure on Qb. Dropped to coverage entire game. Riverheads will not make same mistake. They will bring backers often.

From what I saw, I wasn't impressed with Riverheads secondary. Essex Qb didn't throw the ball well at all which made the secondary look better

Galax didn’t want to give QB running lanes, that’s why they didn’t rush the passer as much. I can’t see Chilhowie having the luck for two games in a row. If they do it will be a shootout.

According to our local paper Chilhowie's QB accounted for 301 of their 376 yards. He run for 97 and threw for 204. As I said before if RH takes care of him they will win.

This kid played the game of his life against Galax. He’s more capable of beating a team with his legs than his arm. That’s why Galax laidback and didn’t rush him as much. Dixon and the rest of the coaches saw this on film and chose to make him win with his arm. He did and they move on. If RH comes with the game plan of all out blitz, he may have 200 yards on the ground. Just my opinion.

However, the question will be, as it almost always is with Riverheads......will he even get enough OPPORTUNITIES with the ball to do his damage? The Gladiators have a habit of latching on to that little oblong thing and holding on to it for quite a while.

Galax took away neither.....they let him do both...97 yards rushing and 200+ passing. RH will attempt to make him one-dimensional. He will have to beat them with 1 or other.

RH shutdown Rosser from WC. I don’t see Chilhowies quarterback being anymore athletic than he is.

If you can stop Riverheads run game you can win other wise I don’t believe you can. This is probably one of Riverheads better defenses as whole they can stop other teams.

I would make him beat RH with the pass. I don’t think he duplicates the same results with the passing game if you give him time to do so.

I never said Galax took away anything from this but they tried to make him beat them with his arm and he did that. A lot of those passing yards were throw it up and hope someone was there to catch it and they were.

I saw them play Galax last year, if this team is close to what that was, it’s going to be tough to beat them.

The Riverheads coaching staff won't let one player beat them, the QB will need help or they will lose for sure.

Really looks like Howie can score some points. Extremely mobile, accurate quartback and a kid at tight end with a John Phillips frame. Red will have to make him uncomfortable back there and make open field tackles when he takes off.

Not sure what to expect when they are on defense. Linebacker play is good but not great. Hard nosed kids but no standout athletes.

Should be a battle. Going to see some points in this one.

The entire game for Chilhowie vs. Galax is up for viewing on the NFHS website. If you are already a member, you can check it out. If you are not a member, it cost $9.95 per month and you get unlimited high school sports from around the country.

The games only go back a few years but Riverheads' last two state finals (Galax and Sussex) are both up for viewing, and I think last year's semi-final game at Galax is on there. Some baseball and soccer finals as well. It would be nice if they would post our semi at Essex from Saturday so the rest of you could see how wild the Penalty Bowl REALLY was!

You can type in any school name and it will show you what it has for that particular school. They will be webcasting all six of Saturday's state finals I believe.

It is a good deal if you are a true fan of high school sports, and if you are like me, that monthly credit card bill is so high that you won't even notice the extra ten bucks!

I haven't watched a ton of it yet but offensively they line up in a lot of shotgun and run some split back veer type stuff. A lot of veer option and rpo. Quarterback is very good. Will be very interesting to watch. Athletically they kind of remind me of JIB circa 2006. Good athletes but not D1 type talent. Undersized and tough. I love it.
