I’d take him. But at the same time i want boogie playing. Most places it wouldn’t even be a problem. Boogie would be one of the first people off the bench but with K you just never know. Wonder how he’d feel about 10-15 minutes his first year

Agree. And, could look at times like 6-8 mpg.

You certainly want talent but I'm not so sure about extra young talent. That catches up with you. I think having Tre back as a sophomore will help a lot. But, I also think you've got to use the talent there and we have a lot of other kids who have chosen the 3-4 year route who ought to be getting PT.

This system is and how K is using it has become frustrating. I am hoping Boogie stays 2 years but I don't think he's going to be happy not getting 15-20 mpg this year and if it looks like they will recruit over him again next year - that could also become a negative.

It will be a tricky balancing act for sure with PT and keeping guys happy. On one side it's a good problem, but if guy are unhappy we all know what can happen. Not everyone wants to wait their turn like Jack and Javin. I'm not sure Boogie gets more than 10 minutes a game this year.

Don't know if its been posted, RJ is reclassifying. Between Kansas, yUcK, Memphis, and Texas Tech. Duke has been removed per his dad.

Then what would you rather have if Jones gets hurt again?
The only other PG we have is Goldwire. News flash everyone: Boogie is not a PG and was not recruited to be a PG.

I think were fine at PG. Obviously with Tre we have possibly the best in the country. Goldwire is a serviceable back up.
Were Duke, were spoiled to the max, but planning on someone getting injured is something Duke can't even prepare the roster for, even though seems like injuries have been inevitable lately.

Boogie to help save the day.....but between Tre,Boogie,Stanley,AOC,Goldy, and even Moore in a pinch, I think we have plenty and w/ RJ cutting us, that helps moving forward

Probably going to be dead wrong... I understand he announced his top 4.... but could we see him go overseas and play?

Let me reiterate I’m probably dead wrong but I can see a Brandon Jennings/Emmanuel mudiay type path

I thought Boogie came in to learn the point guard position. He won’t be a 2 if he’s thinking about NBA so I’m sure he will be playing some 1. Frank Jackson wasn’t a pg either but he played it

Bingo. He’s the only person we can’t expect to lose at all next season, especially if we’re trying to play 38-40 games next season.

I just think having Hampton alongside Jones (similar to Jones/Cook, Williams/Duhon) would have been a dynamic backcourt. With Hampton, Jones doesn’t have to play tenatious defense for 38-40 minutes a game, get everyone shots and try to make shots for himself.

But we’ll see.

Frank played PG out of necessity, our only other option at PG was Grayson, which was a disaster.
We have Tre Jones next year, probably the best PG in the country, we have zero need to experiment with a combo guard as our PG.

But you are right, if Boogie is gonna play in the league, he's gonna need to develop better ball-handling skills, it ain't gonna be next year though.
I bet he is never gonna be Duke's starting PG, I'm sure 2020 we will bring someone else in. But sure, he could be serviceable down the road.

He will get his run at point sometimes. May not be the primary ball handler for the team but he will get opportunities throughout games. He just have to show he can make plays with the ball in his hands

Don't agree that Goldwire was serviceable. Poor shooter, not a good passer, Above-average defender is about it. If he develops a shot, he could become serviceable. The only reason he played was because there was no one else.

Not a good shooter and not a great "play making" passer for sure, but I don't think he played just bc there was nobody else. We could of had RJ or someone bring the ball up. As a matter of fact when he did play, it was usually alongside Tre. He played because he brought energy defensively and played within himself, knowing his roll. Sometimes that's all a team needs from a player....to be serviceable.

Dual PG's that are a threat to score always give us trouble. Would be nice to be on the other side of that scenario once in a while. We used to have great depth at guard but the past few seasons its been on a single players shoulders. One mishap from being handcuffed...as we saw this year and others. Who plays PG shouldnt ever be a question.

I think Duke has enough without him. He is a great talent but I think it’s better for the long term not to get him with Cassius in the fold. Let Boogie/Cassius/Alex battle it out for the two guard. Goldwire is good enough to let Tre breath 5-8 minutes a game.

I agree and disagree.

Agree in that he brought energy, played within himself and accepted his role.

Where I disagree is that I don’t think he played just because of those things, but because a few players more talented than him just didn’t step up. All of those minutes were there to be gobbled up by Alex if he could handle them....he just couldn’t. Jordan offered more a lot of nights. That’s not indicative of Jordan as much as it is of Alex, and even Cam, to an extent.
