I give Robbinsville credit for playing Christ School even if they got killed. At least they can say they actually played a good team from the mountains unlike the rest of the SMC. I watched to Christ School play in person and I would say they are one of the top five teams I've seen in wnc this season. I despise everything they stand for but they are good. I just hope no other team from wnc plays them ever again after this. That being said Robbinsville will beat Cherokee by 35 points or more. I watched Cherokee play Andrews on TV the other night and it was pretty dreadful on both sides. I know they're both really small schools but it was just bad

Robbinsville has about 50 more kids than Cherokee and 80 more than andrews.
I agree about CS but atleast they play in different playoffs. Charters have different rules but still play with publics. Should follow the same rules. Georgia makes any school with 3% enrollment from outside county move up 1 class.

We also played Charlotte Country Day about 3 years ago. Hapeville charter which won 2a GA State title last year. Rabun County which played for a title last year in 2a GA.
I agree about the charter schools. The same thing is true with Charlotte Catholic. I have no idea how they get to play with public schools every season but it's not right
Senior class only has three. JV was mostly 8th graders with only a handful of freshmen, so numbers probably won't be much better next year. Current 8th and 10th grade classes both pretty big, so should have solid numbers when they are 12th and 10th grade in 2 years.
I have not given a prediction on this game just yet. I am puzzled. Lots of variables in this one. Robbinsville playing at home. Healthy? As far as I know everyone is playing. Cherokee with some kids inactive for the game....Evans out? Are all the linemen playing? Coming off a struggling win vs Andrews.
Edge would go to Robbinsville. Talking to some from Cherokee they feel they have struggled sense the second half vs Swain. Will they get back to where they were before the Swain game? They played a few years ago, think 2011 was the last year. If we are going back to the 00s, Murphy has played not just Asheville but also CPA from Nashville, which is a serious TN private program. Swain has played Reynolds and Morristown West. SMC doesn't duck people like they're accused of, just have trouble scheduling.

I wonder if Cade Mintz will be at Cherokee next year? Not trying to stir things up but its going to be a rebuilding year for the Braves next year even with him there.

Good question with how things are changing in our area. Christ School ?? But his dad is still coaching so I don’t know and I would hope not

A lot of people don't know this but there was a chance the Mintz brothers ended up at Murphy last year. When Murphy's boys basketball position came open Mintz was definitely in consideration for the job but Murphy didn't have the money to bring him in (or at least that's the reason I was given) but it wasn't a total pipe dream.
Can you imagine Murphy's offense last year with those two on it? LOL. As good as they would've been for the offense they would've had a much bigger impact defensively though. Murphy's secondary was a one of, if not the biggest weakness on the team last year. The secondary goes from a weakness to a major strength with those two in it. No disrespect to Mt Airy but Murphy is playing Tarboro in the state championship with those two on the team, their athleticism would've been crucial in matching up with Mt Airy's wideouts. And 'Dogs are obviously even more dangerous this year than they are with Cade in the secondary and at wide receiver.

From what I saw of CS WRs I'm not sure Mintz could start. Big difference in overall speed.
I also believe this is a good question. As Wildcat has said I don't think Coach Mintz is going anywhere. There is no public school in NC that can match Cherokee pay. It would have to come with several perks for him to consider. However it will be his sons senior season and Cade Mintz is not going to have the same senior season his brother had. CS like BK has noted has talent. I believe Mintz would play but I am not sure if he will be a # 1 option there. I don't see him riding a bench either though. He is talented and it is not like he is going to be overlooked. I mean even their #1 WR this year has only received offers from FCS schools outside of the Army offer. So yes there is talent but I don't see CS producing Power 5 talent just yet.

I think Murphy made the correct choice though for Women’s Head Basketball coach
Mintz would have been the boys coach if he had came to Murphy, not girls.
Curry would have been the main QB because he was the much better passer. Mintz would have played some QB too but more so would have been a swiss army knife offensively I think: WR, WB, QB, RB. Put anywhere and everywhere to create mismatches and maximize his touches.
Wow. After watching that game I can really see how it would make sense to combine Andrews and Murphy together.
It isn't that simple because of Hiwassee Dam and how big the county is geographically. Two high schools could make sense for Cherokee County in the abstract, if that didn't mean splitting Murphy's current district up (which elected officials won't want to be responsible for) and the facilities that would be converted weren't in bad locations for that to happen.
Curry start over Tye Mintz? At Murphy boy please. Tye will probably be the starting quarterback for the #2 team in the nation next year. (FCS).

Yes ,hit him twice while the ref was attempting to get between him and one of our players..Trainers from both sides tended to the ref.The game was stopped for over 10 minutes. The refs we're talking to Dee about ending the game all together. I don't know how you didn't see this malay BK.Were you there?

Tye Mintz changed his commitment and went to a school that runs a triple option offense, specifically because he wanted to play QB and that was never going to happen at a school that runs a traditional offense. And not sure why you think he starts for KSU next year, the backup QB is a former 3 star who transferred in from App St. Tye will probably be in the mix to start there in 2020 as a redshirt sophomore, which is still impressive. Tye is a great athlete, he would have been the best athlete on the team and he would have played some QB at Murphy, but he would not have been the primary QB. Curry was the far superior passer and Mintz the far superior runner. The passer wins out in Murphy's offense with the recieving weapons they had.
