this is a blog full of arm chair coaches and scouts...My point being, if we have so many kids running sub 5 sec 40 times then that’s wonderful. The SMC is the only conference in NC that does. Last year NC only had a few kids any where near 4.5 and maybe one or two close to 4.4 in the entire state...but it seems that the SMC is littered with sub 5 sec kids. Take that ever how you want, my original point was for these folks to quit blowing smoke when team dads make suggestions of their team having sub 5 sec. kids. If that’s true then swain has 8 or 9 kids too not just one....who are we kidding...the facts are on the internet...anyone can search and find top 40 times and I don’t recall seeing any of the SMC kids name on these lists...please correct me, if I’m wrong about any SMC kid being listed in the top Ten 40 times just in NC...I will certainly apologize to group about miss stating that the SMC doesn’t have any sub 5 sec. kids...

Your still talking about 4.4 and 4.5..NOBODY has said the SMC has that kind of speed..When people say sub 5.0 they are not meaning 4.4...They are talking about 4.9 or 4.7.. Evidently you don't realize there is a GREAT difference in 4.7 and 4.4... Swain has probably got the fastest running back in the conference..What do you think his 40 time is?

Krieger is probably the fastest kid in the conference according to last years track season and he runs 4.7 or 4.8 consistently!!

You’re correct there is a world of difference between a 4.4 and 4.7. It’s the same difference that is between a 5.0 and 4.7. So, if we (SMC) have loaded of kids below 5.0 then SMC is average a best...and there are no outliers...As for the only running back swain has, I wouldn’t even try to guess...best, I can tell is swain is average along with the rest of SMC. Again, correct me if I’m wrong and show me the list that has these premier running backs listed...other then the team dads list....

I can confirm that nobody in conference can run a 4.5 laser timed forty. I have seen 4.4 laser timed in person and it is blazing fast. The conference has maybe two or three young men that could potentially run a 4.8 or 4.9 laser timed. Hand time is typically .1 or .2 faster than laser times. So basically a hand time of 4.7 is actually a 4.9 laser time. Give or take a few hundredths of a second. Common knowledge that Swains running back has ran 4.9 laser timed and a 4.7 hand times. Ty Mintz has been the fastest runner in conference in recent memory. Murphy has one in Dorsey that can potentially run a 4.6 hand time. Cade Mintz can probably run a 4.7-4.8 hand time. Evans the same. 100m is a little different in the fact that stride length becomes a factor which does not favor shorter runners like Sain or Dorsey but if they have the foot speed they can make up the difference between a taller opponent. Example it takes 60 strides for Sain or Dorsey to run a 100m dash. But it takes Mintz at 6ft to take only 51 strides. Nine steps difference.

Like I said earlier, most people have never watched a speedster run. Those that say they run 4.4 or 4.5 you better count their strokes if you play golf with them. Watching willie Gault run the 100 blew my feeble mind. That’s FAST.

Idk if Sain if faster than little Mintz he got ran away from and hawked down last year. Evans took a 60 yard td at Smokey and ran away from everyone . Might not be 4.4 but 4.6-7 is for sure

Not sure how anyone could discredit Cherokee. Unit mid December you guys are the 1A state champs, I don’t like it one bit but I sure do respect it and your program. I’ll be the first to admit it, l don’t think you guys have got the respect you deserve. I’d love nothing more than to beat you guys by 30 in a few week but still respect your team. Go Knights.

Ok Rosman fans cheer for me, I won't make the game. My wife is sick. Safe travels to our kids and fans making the trek tomorrow.

Rosman plays tough. They just couldn't move the ball constantly. Im going be honest here. Probably ruffle a few feathers.

This game could've been much worse. Walsh put in 2nds late 3rd Quarter and almost immediately put in a 3rd group. That 3rd bunch played the entire 4th Quarter.

Vining was the fastest kid on Murphy's team and if I remember correctly was the 100m champ in middle school. The next fastest kid on Murphy's team, Crowder quit a few weeks before the season started. So Murphy lost their two fastest before they played a game.

Wood on JV is a burner and will probably be the fastest kid in the conference as an upperclassmen.

And for the record track speed doesn't always equal to 40 time. For example Ty Wiley broke Chris Dockery's SMC 100 m record by running a 10.7 100. Ty Wiley only ever ran a hand timed 4.6 40 though as far as I know, Deion Johnson who was not as fast as Ty Wiley in 100 but was on a football field and ran as low as a 4.4 hand timed 40.

Chris Dockery told me he ran a hand timed 4.4 40, I'm not sure of that but he was fast and quick as hell and ran a non wind aided 10.8 100 m and held the SMC record in the 100 for 23 years. Damon Herron who was also on the '91 Murphy team was very fast as well. The '91 Murphy team is probably the fastest team in SMC history as they had several guys who could flat out fly.

I believe Tyrea Allen ran a 4.4 hand timed 40 and he just continued to get faster in college. Carl Pickens was running a 4.5 40 at UT. Seth Curtis ran a hand timed 4.5 40. I know from what I've been told that Willie Brown and Ricky Lyle were both fast as hell way back in the day.

Vibing was fast in middle school but didn't run the 100 meter. Riley Blalock won conference in the 100 meter, Evan's from Cherokee was second and the two flip flopped in the 200 meter. I don't think Vining ran track.

My mistake, I must have been confusing him with someone else. He was the fastest kid on the team this year though.

I hope Wood continues to get faster. He ran an electronic 11.89 100m at the SMC Middle School Championship last Spring. That was over 1/2 a second faster then Sain's winning time the year before. I don't know how it will correlate to a 40 time because like SwainDad40 said, Wood has a great stride length, which helps more in the 100 than the 40m. Rumfelt at QB is probably the 2nd fastest and it's pretty close (he's same class, but a year older than Wood).

There is a big deference between hand time and lazier time also.
There are a few kids that might Be true 4.7 or 4.8 .

just gonna throw my two cents in lol if you don't properly tackle anderson or cooper they will make you look bad reallll bad they both are alot to handle. and yes i did jump on that bus after last friday. they are fast and there feet never stop moving. only way to stop robinsville is to stop there running backs witch is hard because dee is smart he will find a way to get them the ball in space.
