I get what you are saying, but they are still being overpaid, the payments just aren't sustainable or worth the zero return investors are getting. The NCAA is making the money and they aren't going to share that with the boosters. So when the boosters finally realize they are just throwing their money away the market values for college players with come back down and hopefully stabilize.
I don’t think the boosters are looking for a return on investment, never have. They have been paying players well before NIL and didn’t get monetary return on investment. Of course now that it’s legal there is far more money involved. I remember four years ago everyone was saying it wouldn’t sustain because of ROI yet it’s gone up substantially every year.
The only ROI most boosters are concerned about are FFs and championships

The states with the highest teen pregnancy rates are the usual suspects when it comes to being at the bottom of the overall quality of living categories. Kentucky Football and Basketball fans would give Hundreds of Millions if they were excited and proud that we’re championship contenders every year. I get why you would think like that right now but the money is always there and Kentucky fans are willing to Pony up if it’s worth it. Still, I get what you’re saying.
Most all the High level guys are only concerned about money and making it to the league. Always will have a few knuckleheads want to party but they’re not going too far in the end.
