Where did I say it was? I compared to NBA players who are clearly better but making less. Unless you are saying that it's my opinion and not fact that NBA players are better than college players...I know what value is,I had economics in college just like most of you. Not that I needed to know what drives market value. So what is it you are wanting to impress every here with by saying I'm wrong? And maybe I am wrong, but you're not doing a very good job of proving it.
This is my last post on this.
Nobody is arguing college players are better than NBA players. The point is that “better” and “worth more in a specific market” are not the same thing.
You’re comparing two completely different pay systems and acting like that proves overpayment.

Oh? Do tell, Comrade. How specifically am I "clueless" on this issue? I asked you to explain the distinction and why there should be one. And all you've done is claim I am "clueless" and think I'm "smart" but I'm really a "dum dum." Let's hear exactly what the distinction is and why the athlete should be limited to how much money he/she can make and why he/she shouldn't get it even though someone is willing to pay it. I guess you're telling us that if another employer tried to poach you from whomever it is you work for and pay you an exorbitant amount, you'd turn it down. I thought we were all free market capitalists here and not communists. So why out of every category of labor is a college athlete prohibited from receiving what the market has determined his/her value to be. Make that make sense. I'm all ears.

A grown man having to announce that someone is being "ignored." Grow a set, son. Anyway, you've a lot of nerve calling anyone "dumb." You've been shown over and over how nonsensical your arguments are. There's no way you've been to college and/or studied economics. You've yet to make a compelling argument for your inane rantings.

I get what you are saying, but they are still being overpaid, the payments just aren't sustainable or worth the zero return investors are getting. The NCAA is making the money and they aren't going to share that with the boosters. So when the boosters finally realize they are just throwing their money away the market values for college players with come back down and hopefully stabilize.

I don’t think the boosters are looking for a return on investment, never have. They have been paying players well before NIL and didn’t get monetary return on investment. Of course now that it’s legal there is far more money involved. I remember four years ago everyone was saying it wouldn’t sustain because of ROI yet it’s gone up substantially every year.
I believe boosters/donors treat NIL as donations.

The only ROI most boosters are concerned about are FFs and championships

I guess I just can't imagine there being that many boosters with that kind of money.

I would imagine the top boosters also get a lot of under-the-table perks: tickets to the game, apparel, kids get into programs and events, free arena advertising, etc. Probably can call in favors when needed. There has to be some form of kickbacks or transfer of goods for a business to just fork over a few hundred thousand.. I would think at least.

You can’t do much better than Wright on offense. We need to get a legit defensive guru for an assistant though. BYU was garbage on D. And Wright was a part of that

Unless you're Mormon and/or getting paid serious bank, BYU is not fun for a young person. I don't blame them at all.

I don't know about that, Utah has the most beautiful girls, in any state I have ever been in. And according to what you call fun, we don't want the fkn party dawgs any more then BYU, or any other school that has coach's that care.

Pretty girls you can’t do anything with unless you marry them. Doesn’t sound fun if you’re a basketball player.

Why not Mike? Should a regular student as opposed to an athlete be able to "get" over a million dollars. Your takes get dumber and dumber. Maybe take some time off and regroup
Speaking of dumb takes, the side you're arguing against understands this situation is going to keep escalating until the government shuts it down.

Even the NBA has a salary cap and doesn't allow unrestricted free agency every year to all players. The NCAA is the opposite.

The NCAA is a total sh*tshow and you're too dumb to understand it.

I didn't say it wasn't a shitshow, Numbnut. But as it stands right now it is what it is, cliwn. So while these rules are in place the players are "worth" what the market is willing to pay. Of course you're too dumb for nuance and think this means that I must be a fan of the current system. I'm not. But that's lost on you.

The NBA cap exists because of a union and a collective bargaining agreement. Without that, it’s illegal under antitrust law.
College athletes don’t have that, so the NCAA can’t just cap pay. And NIL isn’t even salary—it’s third-party endorsements, which aren’t capped in pro sports either.
That’s why the NCAA keeps losing in court. It’s not as simple as “just fix it.”

Just because your not smart enough to do anything with a pretty girl, doesn't mean those kids aren't.

If this was meant to be satire, good job. If not, you've made a fool out of yourself. The states with the highest teen pregnancy rates are the usual suspects when it comes to being at the bottom of the overall quality of living categories. Utah is nowhere close to them, and is in fact, at the other end of the spectrum. In addition, calling people "fk'n stupid" and "not smart" is a really bad look when you don't seem to understand the difference between your/you're and there/their/they're.

‘to dumb’ ? That’s actually hilarious. Are you also UKCowboy ? He said the same thing to me.
I'm sorry , didn't know you were and English major white knight. "Too dumb". Better? You know autocorrect changes "too" to "to" all the time, right? Now go mind your own damn business, no grammar police are required. Some of you only want to be negative, belittle others and try to make others look dumb and ignorant. Try being the key word.

Kentucky Football and Basketball fans would give Hundreds of Millions if they were excited and proud that we’re championship contenders every year. I get why you would think like that right now but the money is always there and Kentucky fans are willing to Pony up if it’s worth it. Still, I get what you’re saying.

Most all the High level guys are only concerned about money and making it to the league. Always will have a few knuckleheads want to party but they’re not going too far in the end. I do agree with the Utah ladies though. Went through a few times a couple weeks here and there back in the day and beautiful girls grow from trees out there. lol.

Hate to say it but Cal dominates all recruiting and especially guard recruiting. Unless he knows Jordan Smith will get the PT and ball mostly. But he would be a sick Combo guard.
Man talk about killing it right now here at Kentucky. If only he would’ve made it one more year I believe he would be tearing it up here now. I know most fans were done but it’s a totally different animal now. I’m about to get destroyed. Lol.

Dude you have no idea. UK is swimming in money and a lot of it is taxpayer.

There's no salary cap in NCAA so let's just outspend everyone else, right?
That is apparently what everyone thinks...you are correct , I have no way of knowing. But if that is the case, why are we not outbidding everyone? Money talks and BS walks.

Honestly, not a terrible take. Cal seems built for the NIl era. But if it's true that the top boosters were withholding funds until he was gone, then he was never going to kill it in the NIl era at UK.

Naw it's true. Cal could of stayed another ten years for all I care if I knew what was coming. We got rid of the best recruiter In the country when recruiting is the most important part of the game today.

I agree with you on potential. He could of dominated here if we kept him. Like he did when he was hired. But I think his fire was gone when it comes to UK. I don't think he would have the same fire if he stayed. He's trying to prove a point at the moment that he's still that guy. And he is. Cal is going to be Cal until he retires. Potential to win it all every year. That's what he is no matter if you like him or not.
