Tremendous game tonight in the 'Burg. Back and forth all night long, up and down, some good 3 pt shooting. Cville led 27-26 at the half and 66-60 with 38 secs left. Keyon Benton hit a running 3 from the top of key to cut it to three. Cville missed a pair of FTs and Victor Diaz hits game tying 3 ball with 3 seconds left in regulation. Yandel Robles got the first two buckets of OT and DJ Robbins closed the game making 3/4 FTs as the Raptors move to 2-0. School cancelled over here so I'm guessing the game scheduled for tomorrow @ Western Albemarle will be PPD. Rocktown will host Heritage(Lynchburg) Monday night and travel over the mountain for a rematch with Charlottesville next Weds.

Nice win for Rocktown. Both teams seem to be much better than last year. Glad Rocktown is getting the extra day of rest, three games Week 1 against three really solid teams (including C3 #2 Western if they had played today) is a crazy start to the season, and it doesn't let up.
On another note, Spotswood dropping both of their games to Nelson surprised me. Nelson is very good, one of the favorites to win Class 2, but I thought Spotswood would at least get a split. They will improve throughout the season, but I am a lot more convinced now that Rocktown could finally take the Valley District crown from them this season.

Charlottesville came out punching in the rematch. Rocktown held brief 5-3 lead before Knights finished the quarter on a 16-4 run for 19-9 lead. They led 34-24 at half. Rocktown got within 5 a couple times but the Black Knights answered every time and made their free throws down the stretch, claiming a resounding 72-60 victory to split the season series. Rocktown will travel to Alleghany this friday and Saturday for their tip-off tourney. They will face Lord Botetourt Friday night. Three more games to close out pre-holiday play. Tues 16th @Spotwoods, Thurs 18th Vs William Monroe, Fri 19th @western Albemarle.
