So how do we like the new site? Seems like it is pretty similar to the old stomping grounds over on the other boards.
Anybody put eyes on Anson? I did not see them coming out 0-2. I thought maybe more like 1-1, Red Springs has not been very good going back a few years. RS best season was 5-6 in 2023 and a 3-7 mark last year. I did see Anson potentially losing to MC because MC showed a lot of promise last year as a young squad. I agree CSD is down, they lost a lot of talent off last year's team. They had a bigger senior class and something like 6 of them went on to play in college.
Weddington @ Monroe- Hard to believe Monroe drops 2 in a row based off last year, but they have not had much success against Weddington in recent history. Weddington takes this one.
Forest Hills @ Comm. Sch. of Davidson- FH should win this one. I think maybe FH finds out a little more this week. Salisbury is still a quality win Fairmont has been bad for a while. I honestly do not think they have any trouble in this game. Speaking of the FH schedule are they taking a tour of sandhills? Got Hoke County coming up too- kind of interesting considering travel. Monroe also played Hoke and Lumberton, seems like a lot of bus travel.
Parkwood @ Sun Valley- SV is 0-2 but has played two pretty good teams. Simmons has this as a SV win by 34. I'd like to think this game may be a little closer than that, but SV still wins.
Mount Pleasant @ Central Cabarrus- MP has their hands full in many regards. It was topsy turvy kinda off season. Best player left, reclassified and is in Charlotte. Starting QB from last year is at Concord, then the whole fiasco with the LB leaving then coming back. They also lost 3 assistant coaches for various reasons. On the other hand you have CC, DK is back and seems to have the Vikings going in the right direction. Week 1 win against what seems early on to be a fairly solid MC squad and an OT loss to a pretty good NW Cabarrus team. Simmons has this as a 1 pt CC win. I think CC wins by a little more than 1.
Anson Co. @ South Stanly- Anson sure needs this one to get on track. SS beat what looks to be a not very good West Stanly team. Then they lost to Piedmont. Anson didn't get it done against RS nor MC. I think Anson wins this one, should be close. If Anson does not win its gonna be a long rough year.
West Stanly @ Albemarle- WS loses to SS for the second straight year in week 1, then changes QB's and loses to NS. Now on paper the NS loss may not look bad, but NS barely beat a not very good CSD school. West's passing game is abysmal. Not necessarily because of yards, but the turnovers. On the other hand Albemarle wins the cupcakes of the year to start a season award. Their first two games have been against teams that are barely teams. So this game is going to be interesting. Simmons has Albemarle by 6. I want to say West will win based on playing better competition. I think it ends up being something like 28-21 West.
