I am a cowboys fan, and it is my cross to bear these days as much or more so than being a bulldog. I think Jerrah Jones is a complete baffoon, but he does love the franchise, and has increased the value of the brand. We have all kinds of organizational problems imo, chain of authority, desire, attitude, drafting, personnel, coaching. Alas those are are sidebar excuses.

for the longest I thought he was talented, and when he was good he was really good. Still makes some dumb decisions that turn a simple mistake into a Chernobyl (chicago last year). At times he is flawless, and extremely accurate. he did have to run for his life most of the year last year with ZERO running game. I hope they play my boy Parnell at Tackle this year and sit Dung Free on his keister.

the reason I ask, is we just paid him long term, if the answer was no we should've turned him loose and started over with a young drafted qb. That would be another in a long line of player personnel decisions that haunt us.

If he has a fair shot with a decent oline, running game, coaching, playcalling....can he get it done? Or will he always be snakebit? Are we doomed to the mediocrity of 8-8 with him behind center?

I think Romo can get it done. He has had some bad moments, sure, but his defense and the talent around him has let that team down far more than Romo in my opinion. I think getting Ryan out of there will help that team and the defense will make strides this year...which in turn should help the offense. Unfortunately, I'm a Saints fan and Ryan was a terrible hire in my opinion.

To answer your question, I think Romo can have a really solid year this year....

.... If not, I will lose my fantasy league, because I am planning on grabbing RB's and WR's early and then picking up Romo as my QB in about the 8th round where he is currently being drafted on average

No, sell

Romo has consistently, over many years, made bad decisions and choked in pressure situations. He is serviceable for about 50 minutes and falls apart. I could not imagine the choke job that would ensue if he had the ball with a lead or was leading a comeback in the Super Bowl or the NFC Championship. The wildcard game vs Seattle....botched hold on the FG.....that is Tony Romo!

Terrible decision to sign him long term. Time to move on Cowboys.

possibly it is wishful thinking, but I am of the opinion that we have thrown the ball waaaay too much over the last few years with no running game for the defense to respect. I think he has a chance to be good if we throw it 25 times a game rather than 50 (about what we averaged per game last year). 50 pass attempts is way too much to put on him. 25 more pass attempts = lots of things going wrong unless you have Brees, Brady, a Manning, or Rogers. We are not built to throw it 50 times with out being balanced. Again, we have bigger problems organizationally than Tony Romo. Demarco Murray has to stay healthy for us to have success next year, and the oline has to improve drastically.

I used to defend him but I've grown tired of it. The dude will always find a way to screw a game up. Either by throwing a pick in the 4th quarter or by not converting a critical 3rd down. That being said, the cowboys have had one of the worst running games in the nfl. It's kinda hard to be one dimensional in thar league. I get its difficult to win like that but it's put up or shut up time.

As much as anything, I think it's the timing of hid mistakes

Every QB blows it from time to time, but Romo seems to have a knack for picking the absolute worst possible time to **** the bed, magnifying the mistake.

But to answer the question, I don't think the Cowboys can make it to the Super Bowl with Romo. And for that, i don't blame Romo, I just don't think he'll still be playing after Jerry Jones dies.

Jerruh refuses to help Romo.

Jerruh just needs to fire his General Manager, and hire some competent football people who'll draft or sign a top notch Left Tackle so Romo doesn't have to worry about getting his head torn off from the backside.

come on Mutt. Tyron Smith is playing LT, numero uno draft pick from SC. he is a natural RT, but the cowboys don't care about that apparently.
