Mbdfan, you failed to mention Ranger, Hiwassee Dam and Andrews, where do they especially Andrews fit into future plans? Could be I’m not farmilar with community names however.

It would be status quo with those for now. Ranger Elem/Middle, Hiwassee Dam Elem/Middle, Hiwassee Dam High. Andrews Elem, Andrews Middle, Andrews High. Although it's silly for Ranger and Hiwassee Dam to each have a K thru 8. A new K thru 8 for both should be phase 4.

Reading between the lines this 3 Phase plan is easing the county residents into consolidation at the high school level by first doing it at the elementary and middle school level. Marble Elementary was closed last year and when Phase 2 is done Martins Creek Elem/Middle and Peachtree Elem will have closed as well.

Elkin by 14. Rosman gave up over 70 points to Murphy. I'm not sure their defense will be able to stop anyone. With their predominant passing attack, the wet conditions will hurt their ability to run also. Just think it all adds up to a Buckin' Elks victory.

2 things. 1. Murphy would have probably put up 70 on a lot more teams if their starters would have played the whole game. (Before any Robbinsville fans reply, I know Murphy had their 1's in the whole game against y'all) 2. look at our rushing yards vs pass yrds. against Hayesville the last game. Rosman will run the football.

All of that is true, and it's also true that Rosman was the last team to make it into the playoff bracket, so I'm sure most folk who are not from Rosman would pick the Bucking-Elks to win at home, based on that fact alone....

As usual, Rosman will be the underdog in the first round which is what they were in each of the previous 3 playoff trips to Elkin, so no surpirse there...

I will also add that the Tigers also won all 3 of those previous matchups with the Bucking-Elks in Elkin, so we will have to wait and see if that trend continues this friday....

You are correct about Murphy being able to put up 70 or more on a lot of teams. You can’t always use the score as a measuring tool.

That ain't going to happen because the fans don't want it to happen, and I'm one of those that never wants to see Rosman leave the SMC......

As for the game, Rosman has played at Elkin 3 other times, and was the underdog each time as they probably will be this time.....

This will be the first time that Rosman has brought a passing attack offense to Yadkin County, and the Tigers will for the most part be healthy for the first time this season with most everyone back from what I've been told.....

Rosman has a lot of Seniors on this team, so it will be interesting to see if they want to keep playing or if they are ready for basketball season to start next monday?

I look for a high scoring game with clear skies friday night after a week of rain, and hope both teams leave the game injury free!

On a side note if you Rosman fans get a chance to visit the Yadkin Valley General Store, Phil is a good guy, and will do you right....Still have a business card that I've kept from my last trip to Elkin a few moons ago when the Tigers made their last trip to Elkin, and I bought some coffee and other items from the General Store before the game with the Bucking Elks....

Rick,
Technically Elkin is in Surry County though I don't think they really consider themselves to be a part of our fine county. They probably identify either as being a part of Yadkin County or just an independent city that doesn't belong to any particular county. LOL. Should be a competitive game though.

Didn't realize that Surry County was so expansive....Best I remember, Wilkes County is just across the river from Elkin?....Seems as though Elkin is right in the corner of Surry, and is bordered by Yadkin and Wilkes?....Is that correct?

I believe Elkin city limits are about 90% in Surry and 10% in Wilkes, with Yadkin County just across the river to the south.
I don't believe any of it's city limits are in either county. The river separates the Jonesville/Elkin city limits in Yadkin. Also don't believe it stretches to Wilkes either. But you can stand in downtown Elkin and spit in both counties.

Pryles can give definite answer.

I had always thought the Yadkin River was the Yadkin County line, but I am always open to learning something new.

Murphy did not play their starters the whole game against y'all. That was their JV running back who rushed for 100 yards against y'all in the 4th quarter.

I might agree with the "independent that doesn't belong to any particular county" description but we certainly don't think of ourselves as being Yadkin county.

Heard today the Elks have been forced to practice at Starmount, with all the rain we have had this week, plus the recent flooding is Elkin's field even playable? If it's not will the game be moved to Starmount since they have a bye this week?

Elkin’s daddy lives in the western half of Yadkin county. They don’t claim him because he beats them too much.

You can hit HWY 16 at Morganton and go up through Lenoir as well. Maybe a few more red lights but straighter line.

Always thought, that back in the 80's, when Elkin was wanting to move out of their old field (with the swamp in the corner) they should have spent the funds on a brand new facility at the old North Elkin Middle School location. Instead of just moving "upsteam" and leaving themselves open to continued flooding, a new facility would have been a better use of their funds.

Well, if they are playing at NW, you folks traveling will want to stop and eat in town, because there is nothing near NW, however concessions are good there
