That man is the best pitcher in baseball no question. He's a machine. I can't believe he just did that to the best offense in the NL. He had his A+ stuff tonight.

Now he can suck his next 3-4 starts like he did after his perfect game.

I know that they're not supposed to take what a guy does in the postseason into account, but I always thought that was pretty dumb.

Yeah, I'd have to say that he is the best in the game right now.

And I think that's dumb. That's one of my pet peeves about the voting system, that the postseason isn't taken into account with those awards. Just a personal preferance. Yeah, yeah, I know that they have postseason awards and such. To me, the Cy Young and MVP should be based on the entire body of work. And to me the postseason includes the "entire body of work". If that makes any sense.

I do think that Halladay was the favorite for the Cy Young, but Adam Wainwright, Ubaldo Jimenez and Tim Hudson should also get some serious consideration.

Halladay- 21-10, 2.44 ERA, and 219 K's, threw a perfect game and led league in wins. (The perfect game is swaying my vote)

Wainwright- 20-11, 2.42 ERA and 213 K's. Almost identical numbers to Halladay, and actually a slightly better ERA.

Jiminez- 19-8, 2.88 ERA, and 214 K's. Also threw a no-hitter. Faded down the stretch. Actually had a better winning percentage than Halladay- and I'll give him the Coor's Field benefit of the doubt, humidor or not.

Hudson- 17-9, 2.83 ERA, and 139 K's. Well, he'll get the comeback player of the year award.

Josh Johnson led the league in ERA, but only 11 wins? That's not going to cut it with this field. And Lincecum led the league in K's, but an ERA over 3 with only 16 wins? Not going to cut it this year either.

I don't think the perfect game will be the razor thin margin by which the voters choose Halladay. They're both great pitchers but I think it was very clear this year that Halladay was a shade better. Doesn't hurt that he plays for the best team in baseball.

He doesn't like baseball and he waited until a thread about a no-hitter to post a reply stating how boring it was. That's awesome! He even got a shot in at golf. That's some quality trolling. How impressive. I hope he shows back up next July when I start a Tour de France thread, and I just really hate that he missed the World Cup threads this summer. It's always so nice to have a d-bag be so disinterested in a thread that he simply can't ignore it, so sucks it up and finds the time to post his indifference.

Really, really awesome contribution to the thread. Thanks!!

never seen Tosh.0 have you?

my contribution to make you happy: saw Wainwright pitch in STL in August. Hot as hell. one of the last games Lee was with the Cubs. Lee beat the Cards by himself.
Wainwright's talents aren't wasted in STL. STL just can't get it together this year when it counts. and it's hard for Pujols to win by himself.

We'll see if the Reds can shut him up and win the series... which I don't think is even a remote possibility at this point.
