Up five spots from last night, winning over a team with a 0.5381 RPI

I think we're in if we make it to the top 50. A win over South Carolina (0.5559) could move us up 7 spots.

...since you have become the Todd4State of the NCAA tournament.

Are we definitely in if we go 3-0, regardless of SEC tourney results? In other words, could we win the next 3 and lose on Friday in the tournament and be NIT bound?

I think 3-0 would make us one of the last four in, but what happens if a Butler or Gonzaga fails to win their conference tournament, someone takes our spot.

That being said, I see little difference in going 3-0 and winning one in the tournament, or losing to South Carolina and beating Auburn and Tennessee and then beating Florida in the SEC quarterfinal. We absolutely cannot afford a fifth sub-100 loss with only one top-50 win.

Those Big East teams with 10-11 losses need to stop winning. UConn, Louisville, South Florida. Would help to see a Rhode Island or Charlotte lose to a horrible team as well.

That being said, only once in the last ten years has the fourth rated RPI conference failed to get five teams in the tournament. Right now, we are the solid fifth team with really no chance of dropping to sixth. I'd like to see us become the fourth most attractive team. The easiest route to that was Florida but they went and beat Tennessee. They finish with Georgia, Vandy and Kentucky so its entirely possible that they could lose out or go 1-2. If we finish two games ahead of Florida over the last three (we go 3-0 while they go 1-2, or 2-1 and they go 0-3), we are in the tournament.

The other angle is the finish ahead of Tennessee in the conference pecking order. They have Kentucky, Arkansas and us left, plus we are tied with them. If they were to lose to Kentucky, beat Arkansas and lose to us and we were somehow able to beat USC and Auburn, then we are two games up on Tennessee with a head to head victory. Tennessee is a lock for the tournament with virtually the same record as us (20-7, 8-5 while we are 20-8, 8-5). The difference is while we were off losing to Rider and Western Kentucky, their slipups were against Purdue and Southern California. They also have a win over Kansas.

If we were able to finish effectively ahead of Tennessee or Florida, I think we are in. If we are the fifth team from the SEC when all is said and done, I think we're out. A combination of the above Florida and Tennessee scenarios would require a sacrifice to the sports gods.

will help us tremendously no matter who wins.

If Alabama were to win, it might be enough to get them into the top 100, which takes away a technical bad loss (we have four, most of any bubble team)
If Ole Miss wins, and could beat Arkansas and LSU to end the season, it might be enough to get them close to the top 50, where an upset in the SEC-T could get them into the top 50 and give us two technical good wins, which we only have one now, and could have two if we were to beat Tennessee.

It won't happen, but MSU tourney chances would be greatly improved if OM won out.<div>
</div><div>How many MSU fans actually would be able to bring themselves to root for OM since it will benefit MSU?</div><div>
</div><div>Interesting question.</div>

Last week, I was moving some stuff around and decided to change some insurance over. Had a guy recommended to me, walked in, Ole Miss stuff everywhere. I sat down and bought some insurance from him.

In the middle of general conversation from the insurance agent: "What do you do, where did you go to school, etc." I informed him that I was a State grad engineer and he said "I'm surprised you came to me." I looked puzzled. The guy literally said that when he took over the agency, people left because he put some Ole Miss stuff up in his office and that MSU fans would not use him because of it. I told him that those people were 17ing morons. Except I didn't say 17ing.

for multiple reasons.

I bet you are one of those people that if we needed Ole Miss to beat LSU to put us in the SEC Championship game and an LSU win would put LSU in the Championship game, you would say Geaux Tigers.

Was pulling for UM against both UF and Auburn. Not sure which way I'll go Saturday....Alabama can jump back in the top 100 with a win and probably stay there by holding serve at home, but considering the opponents, y'all might need to win out to go back up 10 spots and stick there. Things like this are what makes bracketed-RPI measurements so frustrating.
