I was talking to Bill Pryse and he said that he was a member at the same club you are and that his brother, an Opthamalogist, John Pryse, was still a member. Does this sound right?
Yes, I know John very well. He's actually an orthodontist. John lectures a lot nationally and has given several presentations at WVU Dental School. I've met Bill too. I don't know what happened to my account. I got this can't log in, tried to set up a new account, ended up with a new handle and probably an independent rivals acct besides the individual WVU acct.
I've been working on my course evaluation schedule for next year. So far I've got Fishers Island, National Golf Links, Shinnecock, Friars Head, Maidstone and Bethpage Black on a NY trip. Seminole in FL plus ??. Pinehurst #2, #8, #4. Pine Valley, Aronomink, and Merion in the Philly area. And possibly Sand Hills in nebraska. You played any of those?I don't know what happened to my account. Same politics as on your old account ??
Tony Green and I are going to stay an extra day after The International Four Ball in Feb and play Seminole. I have not played any of those. It would be an epic year for me to play any ONE of those courses.![]()
All of those courses have certain minimum standards.:golf:
I continue to be amazed at the wealth and cliquishness of some of these places I visit. The guy who was my host at Baltusrol is not only a member there, but also at Pine Valley, Royal St. Georges, some club in Naples and is also one of only 300 Americans who is a member of the R&A. I played Peachtree in Atlanta unaccompanied. Only 225 members and many of them are also members of Augusta National. I was not allowed into the grill afterwards since I wasn't playing with a member. I didn't feel too bad though since Derek Dooley was playing ahead of me and he wasn't allowed in either. At Cypress Point, their locker room had the names of titans of American culture-Clint Eastwood, Peter Ueberroth, Charles Schwab...It's sometimes a bit surreal to visit these places. Anytime I might be feeling like I'm someone special, I'm quickly brought back down to earth when I visit these places. As in handicap? Or just no gingers?
