Any surprise at this number even considering the turmoil at NW? I think it’s a few too many. Was thinking RU -3 or -4.

Sounds about right at this point. RU cannot lose that game if they want to have anything near a decent season.

I think Rutgers should take some shots early. Line up in power formation and fake handoff/rollout for Gavin to keep NW honest. NW knows Schiano would like to pound the rock with Samuel El Jackyouupson.

I was thinking this one has RU -3.5 written all over it.

RU has to be favored at this point but Vegas still doesn’t trust us.

I’d be in for a few shekels for sure at -3.5, but not at -7. I don’t trust us that much either lol.

Not sure what that means Vegas doesn’t trust us. Vegas is just setting the line at the numbers where they think equal money goes on both sides.

Run, run, pass, punt. Rinse, wash and repeat. Boy, I hope that doesnt come to fruition yet once again.
Northwestern will dare Rutgers to pass for sure. Unfortunately, I’m not sure Rutgers has a true deep threat WR but maybe some play-action rollout passes to the sideline for like 5-8 yards a pop will matriculate the ball down the field. Drag a tight-end over one play…button hook a slot receiver the next play and so on.

Was just in Vegas this weekend - would have taken us at -6 but not -7.

In other news, we are +20000 to win the conference - with better odds than NW and IU.

Personally, I believe we win by 2 touchdowns +. Home game and defense gives us good field position throughout the game. Remember our secret weapon is still Johnny Football + Sam B has a great game.

Earlier this summer we saw a ex-Rutgers coach (Gleeson) hired by NW.. I saw that as NW going all-in on treating this game like a bowl game... going for any kind of advantage they might find in the brain of a former coach.

I am wary of this game. I am uncertain Rutgers will be playing like the game means as much as it actually does. When you play in a division like this.. it is almost like it is a very short season made up of the games where you are not at an "impossible" disadvantage. Officially you may need 6 wins of 12... when in reality you may really need 6 of 8. Makes all those 50/50 games so, soo important. Cannot sleep on any of them.

I think the new TE Bowman could add something good to the offense. And the wideouts should be better. If Gavin can be a true dual threat behind an improved O-line we could actually have a real offense.
I'm expecting our D to be very good...and deep.
There's every reason for some optimism about the coming season.

That might be stretching it just a bit but I do think that our offense will be far better this year then last as long as we stay healthy.
Maybe a little bit. I figured the offense would be better based on the spring game what I saw, and then when Aaron Lewis said he was happy to go against this offense on Media day it confirmed to me that it will be good. I don't think defensive guys will tout about the offense if it wasn't doing good. Coaches yes, defensive players nah.
