RU Baseball Weekend Series at Michigan, today 6pm, Sat 2pm, Sun noon :

RU Baseball travels to Ann Arbor to take on 3rd place Michigan (8-3 in Conference). RU currently sits in a tie for 5th w a 7-5 record. The remaining schedule is a bit harder than the first half of the season, but the RU pitching staff has improved greatly since the beginning of the season. The Key will be to get some hitting to support the good starting pitching and to win the remaining series they should take (Penn St) take 2 out of 3 at home against NW (below RU in the standings), and maybe win 1 out of 3 against Michigan and Indiana.

The starting pitching rotation remains the same with Soph Ace Harry Rutkowski (2-3, 2.83 ERA) tonight, Saturday 2pm Tommy Genuario (2-3, 2.55 ERA), and Sunday noon Tevin Murray (3-3, 3.18 ERA).

Michigan is 16-2 at home this season. Getting at least 1 win won't be easy.

I’m not basing it on 1 awful game. I said it earlier this week that the rest of the way was going to be a lot more difficult. Having good weekends against Michigan State and Purdue doesn’t mean much.

Plus, the more games we lose, the more likely we get a new head coach.

I hope we can get one win at Michigan to stay one game over .500 in the BIG. We need to take care of business vs. Northwestern and Penn State. A .500 record in league will not be easy but it can happen. We really must get a W though over Michigan either today or tomorrow.

It’s a conundrum. On one hand I never want to see our teams lose, obviously, but on the other hand I know that this head coach is just not the answer and nothing is going to change under him going forward. It just so happens that the Big Ten is very, very weak this year, and we don’t play if you are the best teams in the conference, while playing most of the really bad ones, so we’ve won s couple series BUT let’s look at the entire picture and be realistic: we DESPERATELY need a new HC.

So right now we’re likely to make the B1G’s, which is great, but otherwise I’m not gonna be upset if we don’t finish strong.

Starter Genaurio was decent only giving up 2 Earned runs over 5 innings, but errors (2 by Sclafani) lead to 3 unearned runs, and when you only score 1, you won't be winning too many games. Middle relief was not effective .
Along with the close losses by Softball and LAX, a tough day for RU.

it all comes down to recruiting ..i'm being mr. obvious here, but, you can't win with one decent pitcher., and players leaving the program. you need to recruit nationally,,,plus our facilities suck.......let me see ,who do i choose ru with there lousy facilities, or michigan...if you don't think recruits notice where their playing their games. well, what can i say....let's get it done pat, and wealthy alum

I don't know why we can't recruit a few very good pitchers. I don't think we brought in anyone who really helps our staff this season. Hopefully we don't get swept tomorrow. if so we just might miss the tournament again.

Not a total loss ... Woman’s Track set a school record in the Sprint Medley, RU beat Columbia in rowing, and Golf is in 9th in B1G tourney ... baseball and softball get one more shot today.

What is the problem with Michigan not broadcasting these 3 games on BTN2GO.
I've watched a number of Rutgers games on BTN2Go this year in a number of sports
and I have to tell you that some of the schools just do not produce good broadcasts.
Some I've seen has 1 camera angle the whole game, others have announcers that
seem to be people who just showed up for the game and gave very little info. That would
include the score.
On the other hand, the RU Vision broadcasts have been very good productions.
But I ask again, - Why no broadcast from Michigan??

Rutgers loses 4-1 in bottom 10th. Closer Serafino was in for over 70 pitches,but guess Coach has no faith in the other relievers. He got 2 outs, but couldn't get the last one. RU leaves 5 men on in the 8th and 9th.
Will be a loooong trip home for this team.

B1G level talent clearly is lacking ,Its been over a decade without one NCAA Tournament bid.

According to the radio announcers, in the eighth with runners on second and third and no one out, Sclafani hit a sacrifice fly and Valderrama was called out at third on a terrible call. Otherwise, RU would have won in nine because Valderrama would’ve scored. Baserunning was not the issue in either the eighth or ninth innings.
